Hey,
when I try to run my project on an iOS Simulator, I get the following message:
JournalingSuggestions is not available when building for iOS Simulator.
and
Linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
Steps to reproduce this behavior:
Create a new Xcode project
Add the Journaling Suggestions Capability
Add the Journaling Suggestions Framework
Under "Target > Build Phases > Link Binary with Libraries", select “optional“ for JournalingSuggestions.framework
Under "Target > Build Settings > Other Linker Flags > Debug" select „Plus“ and add „iOS or iOS Simulator“ and paste this -Xlinker -weak_framework -Xlinker JournalingSuggestions into the editable field.
Do the same for "Target > Build Settings > Other Linker Flags > Release"
This tread is about the same problem, but is already checked as answered.
That's why I'm creating this new tread.
The last two bullet points are results from advice from the other thread.
MacBook Air, M1, 2020, macOS: 14.6.1, Xcode: 16.0
Thanks for your help!

I’ve been stuck for 40 days . Any ideas, guys?”
Been one week and still on requested image playground image playground will not work says I’m still requested access
What type of licensing does it apply for the usage of FONT_FAMILY='System' in Apple/iOS app?
In iOS 17, the call to "UIApplication.shared.open("App-prefs:ACCESSIBILITY&path=HEARING_AID_TITLE")" was opening the device Settings and going to Accessibility and then Hearing Device which is very helpful.
Now in iOS 18, this call only opens the device Settings at the root.
I would like to know how to replace the URL so that it works like before.
canOpenUrl does return true, so I'm wondering if something is broken, or
if canOpenUrl is kind of lying a bit.
I also tried other paths to go to other screens and they don't work either.
Hi everyone,
usually i used to work on my xamarin application from a windows OS using Visual Studio application.
When testing IOS apps i used to connect to macbook that my boss has to my windows pc.
Nowdays i have a big problem while i try to publish an app. I select Release configuration, rebuild the project and in this case it asks me to login in with my Apple developer account but i always get an errore:
'There is an error while trying to access the auth service is not available'
Does anyone know a different way to publish an IOS app? I really do not know what to do.
This is my first time trying to publish an IOS app..
We have a USB dongle that would like to connect to the iPhone for power (using USB-C). Since it is not MFi, we will then use bluetooth for communication between the dongle and an app.
When doing bluetooth pairing between the dongle and iPhone, it would be ideal to only see the dongle that is plugged into the iPhone listed in the app. This is to avoid connecting to other dongles that may be in the area.
We think this could be possible using USB descriptors. We assume the iPhone can read the USB descriptors for non-MFi dongles.
Our question is, can our app see the USB-descriptors of the dongle? Is iOS able to pass that info to the app?
Then, we could have a unique USB descriptor for each dongle and the app could only list bluetooth devices with that descriptor (effectively filtering out any other dongles in the area).
Any help and/or feedback is greatly appreciated :)
There are significant crash reports coming from iOS 18 users regarding AVKit framework that starts from this line [AVPlayerController _observeValueForKeyPath:oldValue:newValue:] which seems to be coming from iOS internal SDK. There are 2 kinds of crash we found:
UI modification on background thread
From the stack trace it seems like when AVPictureInPictureController is being deallocated and its view is being removed from superview somehow the code is being executed in background thread because there is this line there _AssertAutoLayoutOnAllowedThreadsOnly highlighted before the crash.
But I’ve checked our code that plays around AVPictureInPictureController, in the locations where we would deallocate the object it will always be called on main thread which are insideviewDidLoad and deinit inside UIViewController class. From the log, it seems like the crash happened when user try to open another content when PIP player is active resulting in the current PIP instance will be replaced with a new one. My suspect is the observation logic inside AVPlayerController could be the hint to this issue, probably something broken over there since this issue happened across our app versions on iOS 18 users only.
Unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce this issue yet but one of my colleagues reproduced it once but haven’t been able to do it again since. The reports keep raising each day up to 1.3k events in the last 30 days now.
Over release object
This one has lower reports than the first one but I decided to include it since it might have relevant information regarding the first crash since the starting stack trace is similar. The crash timing seems to be similar to the first one, where we deallocate existing AVPictureInPictureController and later replace it with a new one and also found only in iOS 18 users which also refers to [AVPlayerController _observeValueForKeyPath:oldValue:newValue:]. I also was unable to reproduce this issue so far.
Oh, and both of the issues happened on both iPhone and iPad.
We’d appreciate any advice on what we can do to avoid this in the future and probably any hint on why it could happened.
I have reported this issue with bug number: FB15620734
I also attached one sample crash report for each of the crashes here.

Problem: One of my QA Device crash while launch the iOS 15.5.
Background: Previously, I update my os to macOS Sequoia & update my Xcode to 16 Release Candidate. Previously when the app was build in Xcode 15.4, it run/launch perfectly, but it seems the app is crash below iOS 15.5

I got sent a crash log from a user of my app. I followed the procedure that Apple specifies to symbolicate the crashlog, but that does not succeed (see https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/adding-identifiable-symbol-names-to-a-crash-report#Symbolicate-the-crash-report-in-Xcode)
XCode complains that
"error: unable to locate main executable (arm64)"
The location of the main executable is given in the crashlog at a path that starts with /private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/ But the /private/var/containers directory on my system is empty.
I have tried to search my filesystem for the specific image that is mentioned in the crashlog, but it is nowhere to be found.
Because the image is not available, I cannot symbolicate the crashlog from the commandline using atos either.
The crashlog is from an iPhone running iOS 18.0.1, if that makes a difference.
Anybody knows how to resolve this?
My code as long as you use the AVPictureInPictureController, open the PIP model, and then back to the desktop, my widget will refresh is invalid, I closed the PIP code mode, functions are normal refresh.
I don't know what the reason is, is the system made a refresh limit?
I'm looking to develop an iOS application that functions as a remote for Apple TV, including discovering Apple TV devices over Wi-Fi. If anyone has experience building similar applications, could you share insights on available frameworks or protocols to discover Apple TVs? Additionally, if there are reference apps on the App Store that work like Apple's default remote app, I would greatly appreciate recommendations.
Any guidance from developers who have worked on similar projects would be very helpful!
I belong to an EC shop application developers' team, and we got a crame from a small part of our customers about our application.
"Search Bar does not work on iOS 18."
This bug doesn't appear on most of our devices updated to iOS 18.0.
In some cases, it disappeared by turning [Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Reachability] off.
But it is not the same for all customers found the bug.
I'm looking for how to fix this bug, and why it happens.
I'm not sure but I doubt that this may be a bug of iOS18, UIKit, RxCocoa, RxSwift, or something else.
Any information would be welcome.

I've requested the authentication in my main app.
PHPhotoLibrary.requestAuthorization(for: .readWrite) { status in }
Add the privacy description in both the main app and the extension.
But No matter the device is locked or unlocked. When I call
let fetchResult = PHAsset.fetchAssets(with: .image, options: nil)
let count = fetchResult.count
the count is always zero, even after a new photo is saved to the album in the same session.

After I updated Siri doesn't work. If I try to use it by typing I get no feedback or response. If I say 'Siri' or hold down the side button the 'animation' on the screen starts but stops immediately and again I have no response or feedback. When turning off Apple Intelligence and just using Siri, it works perfectly. But in conjunction with Apple Intelligence, it is not possible to use Siri.

there are no AI chips on iOS 18.1, there is a region with great states and English everywhere. there is no apple intelligence and siri section (just siri instead). There is also no eraser function in the photo app.
Is there a way for my app to know that a phone number has just been messaged to or a call to 911 just started? Or SOS has just been executed by the user?
