I can't shake the "I don't think I did this correctly" feeling about a change I'm making for Image Playground support.
When you create an image via an Image Playground sheet it returns a URL pointing to where the image is temporarily stored. Just like the Image Playground app I want the user to be able to decide to edit that image more.
The Image Playground sheet lets you pass in a source URL for an image to start with, which is perfect because I could pass in the URL of that temp image.
But the URL is NOT optional. So what do I populate it with when the user is starting from scratch?
A friendly AI told me to use URL(string: "")! but that crashes when it gets forced unwrapped.
URL(string: "about:blank")! seems to work in that it is ignored (and doesn't crash) when I have the user create the initial image (that shouldn't have a source image).
This feels super clunky to me. Am I overlooking something?

Image Playground Error: Cannot find protocol declaration for 'ImageGenerationViewControllerDelegate'
@available(macCatalyst 18.1, *)
@available(iOS 18.1, *)
extension CKImageSelectionManager: ImagePlaygroundViewController.Delegate {
public func imagePlaygroundViewController(_ imagePlaygroundViewController: ImagePlaygroundViewController, didCreateImageAt imageURL: URL) {
}
func presentImagePlayground() {
let imagePlaygroundVC = ImagePlaygroundViewController()
// Set delegate to self to receive the callback
imagePlaygroundVC.delegate = self
imagePlaygroundVC.isModalInPresentation = true // Prevents dismissal with swipe if needed
self.delegate?.presentImageSelectionViewController(imagePlaygroundVC)
}
}
This generates an error in the xcode generated swift header.
After installing IOS 18.2 public beta, the Apple intelligence been stuck on downloading and now I’m Back to the old Siri. Which kinda sucks. lol
Any help or tips to get my APPLE INTELLIGENCE back?
The simulator should support the new Siri Ul and Apple Intelligence features, at least they should work if Apple Intelligence is enabled on the Mac itself.

When i’m update to iOS 18.2 beta 1, Apple intelligence is downloading still now!
“Apple Intelligence is downloading. Some Apple Intelligence and Siri features may be unavailable until the download is complete”
How can i solve this problem?
I have been to image creation for 2 hours. I can do genmoji, playground well for 10 minutes.
After that, when I run the playground and start to generate Animation style of photo, it will stuck in here and no result output. Is there anyone know what's happened...
I’ve had the beta and been signed up since October 23rd. Still sitting on early access requested. It’s a 16PM. My son has my old 15PM he downloaded the 18.2 beta 4 days ago and requested access and he already has it. So is it a lottery system or only certain phone models at a given time? Anyone else have the same issue?
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy
I recently updated my iPhone to iOS 14.2 and the playground app came and then I couldn't open it because I hadn't released it yet. Today it released it and I rediled the notification but I went to look for it to test it and I couldn't find it anymore. How do I make the PLAYGROUND app come back from Apple smart. Como faço para baixar novamente o app?
On the October 10/28 release day of Apple Intelligence I opted in. My iPhone and iPad immediately went to "waitlist" and within 2 to 3 hours were ready to initialize Apple Intelligence.
My MacBook Pro 14" with M3 Pro processor and 18 GB or RAM has been stuck on "preparing" since release day (6 days now).
I've tried numerous workarounds that I found on forums as well as talking to Apple support, who basically had me repeat the workarounds that I found on forums.
I've tried changing region to an area that does not have Apple Intelligence and then back to the US, I've changed Siri language to an unsupported one and back to a supported one, and I have tried disabling background/startup Apps, I've disabled and reenabled Siri. Oh, I've restarted a bunch and let the Mac alone for hours at a time.
I've noticed that my selected Siri voice seems to not download.
Finally, after several chats and calls with Apple support, I was told that it's Beta software, they can't help me, and I should try the developer forums.... so here I am. Any advice?
Hello!
I am working on an app that requires to send a local push notification to the user from an app extension (from the ShieldActionDelegate to be precise).
This is suggested by DTS as a workaround for this issue: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/766644
But now, on the iOS 18.2 beta, local push notifications are delayed by up to 10 seconds, even though the push notification is classified as .timeSensitive, leading to a very bad user experience (where to user has to sit and wait for the notification to arrive without knowing how long it will take).
This only happens when Apple Intelligence is turned on.
This had happened previously on the iOS 18.1 beta but was fixed for the final release: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/764848
But now the issue came back on the latest iOS 18.2 beta.
I have documented the new behavior in FB15668616
Any help is appreciated!
Hi,
WWDC24 videos have a lot of references to an "Image Playground" API, and the "What's New in AppKit" session even shows it in action, with a "ImagePlaygroundViewController". However, there doesn't seem to be any access to the new API, even with Xcode 16.2 beta. Am I missing something, or is that 'coming later'?
I just watched the October 30 MacBook Pro Announcement where they talked about on-device local LLMs for the M4s.
What developer training resources are available, where we can learn how to use custom llm models and build our Swift apps to use both Apple Intelligence and other llm models on device?
Is the guidance to follow MLX github repos, or were those experimental and now there is an approved workflow and tooling?

I've been waiting for confirmation for a long time, it finally seems to have arrived, but now the software for working with Playground and Genmoji is not downloaded. For the past 8 hours, the phone has been connected to the network, it has been on hold for more than 20 minutes, everything has passed by. The most interesting thing is there is no rebounding how much to swing
Hi everyone, I work with a company called Dataloop Ai, testing AI features. This is the only feature missing that I need to test. Could you please let me know the estimated waiting time for this feature to be enrolled?
in the IOS18.1 release when using Apple Intelligence the notifications will be delayed around 10 second. Even without the notification summary turned on. It seems to be a system-wide bug, anyway to fix it or bypass it.
So the reason half of us can’t access image playground is because we don’t have the full download of apple intelligence (i think ) so you might have downgrade and then update to see if that’s the reason.. to also check to see if I’m right or wrong check you settings go to iphone storage scroll all the way down click iOS at if it not 15gb or higher you might need to downgrade….. let me know if this helped anyone
I have been wating almost 40 hrs or more and still nothing apple please do something how long have you guys been waiting
I use m2 ipad air and i waited for 2 days . Maybe its a problem ?
The image playground has been stucked for me for 36 hours so far. As far as I read in various forums, there are many people with the problem. It is only activated for a series of content creators.
