Can no longer detect 2nd display in MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1
I have two monitors connect to my Macbook Air (Apple M1 Chip) via HyperDrive Dual 4K 10-in-1 USB hub. Everything was working flawlessly moment ago, until I update my MacOS. Now, the only display that works is whichever one is plugged into the first HDMI slot on the hub. Additionally when I click on the MacOS Instant View icon, I receive the following pop-up message 'USB Display is not connected. Please connect it and try again' I've attempted everything from unplugging the monitors both from the hub itself as well as the power chord. I've also made sure my drivers were up to date with the latest version of the software. So far nothing has worked. Please be mindful of updating your software....

Still, it shows it requires M1 mac. Our users are on M1 mac. Still, no button to install. I don't see an option to add macOS app in TestFlight (please see first image) Can someone please help?

XCode Cloud Error with IXGuard
Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone here experienced an error with XCode Cloud when running pipelines, specifically Error is: "An internal error was detected which caused this stage to error. The error has been logged, and you can re-run this build again." Upon checking the logs, there is no specific error other than the above and "The pipeline action could not complete due to an error. The error may not occur on rebuild." Note that in the pipeline, there is an obfuscation step using IXGuard. However, the IXGuard steps show successful on the logs.

SwiftUI List insertion changes aren't animated on macOS 15
I've been struggling with this issue since the release of macOS 15 Sequoia. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered it or if anyone has a workaround to fix it. Inserting a new element into the array that acts as data source for a SwiftUI List with a ForEach is never animated even if the insertion is wrapped in a withAnimation() call. It seems that some other changes can be automated though: e.g. calls to shuffle() on the array successfully animate the changes. This used to work fine on macOS 14, but stopped working on macOS 15. I created a very simple project to reproduce the issue: import SwiftUI @main struct TestApp: App { var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { ContentView() } } } struct IdentifiableItem: Identifiable { let id = UUID() var name: String { "Item \(id)" } } struct ContentView: View { @State var items: [IdentifiableItem] = [ IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), IdentifiableItem(), ] var body: some View { List { ForEach(items) { item in Text(item.name) } } Button("Add Item") { withAnimation { items.insert(IdentifiableItem(), at: 0) } } Button("Shuffle Items") { withAnimation { items.shuffle() } } } } How to reproduce Copy the code below in an Xcode project. Run it on macOS 15. Hit the "Add Item" button Expected: A new item is inserted with animation. Result: A new item is inserted without animation. How to prove this is a regression Follow the same steps above but run on macOS 14. A new item is inserted with animation.

pkgbuild giving signing identity error
The actual error: pkgbuild: error: Could not find appropriate signing identity for “Developer ID installer: My Name (DeveloperID)”. I'm trying to sign a program written with gfortran. The steps worked the last time (Mar 23) I built this code. The steps to error: a) xcrun notarytool store-credentials --apple-id "***" --team-id "yyy" Giving Profile Name zzz and App-specific password b) codesign --force --timestamp --options=runtime -s "Developer ID Application: My Name (yyy)" AppName c) pkgbuild --root ROOT --identifier org.aaa.bbb --version "1.1.1" --sign "Developer ID installer: My Name (yyy)" AppName.pkg ROOT contains the package contents At this point I get the error pkgbuild: error: Could not find appropriate signing identity for “Developer ID installer: My Name (yyy)” Are there steps that have changed. Any suggestions? Thanks, David

SwiftUI conditional modifier depending on OS type and version
This app may run on MacOS or iOS. I want to use windowResizability modifier (specially In MacOS) which is only available on masOS 13+ and iOS 17+, but still need to run on macOS 12 or iOS 15… So I need something like #if os(macOS) if #available(macOS 13 *) { use windowResizability #else do not use windowResizability #endif #else // iOS if #available(iOS 17 *) { use windowResizability #else do not use windowResizability #endif Here is the code where to apply (in @main) struct TheApp: App { var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { ContentView() // 1.11.2023 .frame( minWidth: 1200, maxWidth: .infinity, minHeight: 600, maxHeight: .infinity) } .windowResizability(.contentSize) // BTW: is that really necessary ? } } How can I achieve this ? Do I need to write a WindowGroup extension for the modifier ? If so, how ? BTW: is windowResizability really necessary ? App seems to work the same without it.

Issues with iOS Simulators and Debugging after Xcode 16 Upgrade
Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my Xcode to version 16, and since then, I’ve encountered some issues with Visual Studio 2022 for Mac. The iOS simulators have disappeared, except for the generic simulator. When I connect my iPhone via USB, Visual Studio recognizes it, but when I attempt to run my project in debug mode, I receive a status message saying "waiting for debugger to connect to iPhone on port 10000 via USB." After a few minutes, this process fails. Additionally, when I try to run the project in release mode, I encounter the following error: dlopen(/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/IDEDistribution.framework/Versions/A/IDEDistribution, 0x0001): Library not loaded: @rpath/AppThinning.framework/Versions/A/AppThinning Referenced from: <33FF2F3B-A96F-37B4-BA4E-887BD882BF9D> /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/IDEDistribution.framework/Versions/A/IDEDistribution Reason: tried: '/Library/Frameworks/Xamarin.iOS.framework/Versions/16.4.0.23/lib/mlaunch/mlaunch.app/Contents/Frameworks/AppThinning.framework/Versions/A/AppThinning' (no such file), '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/IDEDistribution.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/AppThinning.framework/Versions/A/AppThinning' (no such file), '/Library/Frameworks/Xamarin.iOS.framework/Versions/16.4.0.23/lib/mlaunch/mlaunch.app/Contents/Frameworks/AppThinning.framework/Versions/A/AppThinning' (no such file), '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/IDEDistribution.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/AppThinning.framework/Versions/A/AppThinning' (no such file), '/Library/Frameworks/Xamarin.iOS.framework/Versions/16.4.0.23/lib/mlaunch/mlaunch.app/Contents/MonoBundle/AppThinning.framework/Versions/A/AppThinning' (no such file) I suspect that the new version of Xcode may not be fully compatible with Visual Studio 2022. Unfortunately, I cannot roll back to an older version of Xcode because I have updated my macOS to Sequoia (15.0.1), which appears to be incompatible with previous Xcode versions. It is quite frustrating as I can't debug my projects and my works are stalled. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to this problem? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Iphone Mirroring with hotspot
When I share my iPhone’s internet with my MacBook via hotspot, iPhone Mirroring doesn’t work. The reason is that Wi-Fi is turned off on my iPhone due to the hotspot. But both devices are technically on the same network. So, there shouldn’t be a reason for iPhone Mirroring not to work (Bluetooth is enabled on both devices). Does anyone know the logic behind this?

[macOS Sequoia] Sudden surge of "failed to retrieve app-scope key" logs and failed URL security scoping
Hello, with macOS Sequoia I've observed a sudden, substantial surge in reports about the Mac App Store version of my app Yoink no longer accepting files dropped to it, with the following message being logged in Console.app: 08:16:05.516307+0200 Yoink ---Yoink Error--- Could not create NSURL bookmark for /Users/<redacted>/Downloads/<redacted>/<redacted>.txt err: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=256 "Failed to retrieve app-scope key" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=Failed to retrieve app-scope key} The code line that causes this is the following: NSData *bmData = [fileURL bookmarkDataWithOptions:NSURLBookmarkCreationWithSecurityScope includingResourceValuesForKeys:nil relativeToURL:nil error:&err]; Sometimes a relaunch of Yoink, or a restart of the Mac resolves the issue, but only temporarily. Other times, even a restart doesn't work, but running tccutil reset All at.EternalStorms.Yoink in Terminal and then restarting the Mac works (again, temporarily). The trial version and Setapp versions of my app both work as expected, however. I myself cannot reproduce this issue, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. (This might be considered a follow up to https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/46583 , years back) Thanks a ton, – Matthias

Porting VFS kext to FSKit
So if one were to start the attempt of porting an existing kext VFS filesystem, to use the new FSKit (Since presumably kexts could go away), how would that look now? Is it ready? Are there any samples out there that already works (Filesystem using FSKit) ? How is the documentation? ChatGPT did not seem to know much at all. What would be Apple's reception to that? How flexible is FSKit ? Is it locked to the idea of a mount is connected to a physical device (or partition)? Or is it more virtual, in that I will have a pool of disks, and present 1, or many, mount points?

Applying Custom Rounded Corners to a macOS Window
Which method allows me to apply larger-than-default rounded corners to a macOS window while maintaining the system’s dynamic, contrasting border – similar to what’s seen in the Control Center popup? (Control Center has a corner radius of 16, the default system window is 10.) While I know how to closely achieve this effect manually for my plain panel, I'd like to leverage the built-in method and get it for free from the OS. I’ve spent way more time on this problem than I'm willing to admit, and searched extensively, but haven’t found any solution. I’d really appreciate any pointers. Thank you.

Local Network policy for applications coming in MacOs 15.0
Hi, I upgraded my MacOs to 15.0. I work with maven in my environment. Normally, while running tests with maven in my environment in Sonomo 14.5, I was connecting to my test database environment with the postgresql library in the background. But after the upgrade, I realized that maven could not do this. After some research, I saw that this policy for applications was newly added at https://support.apple.com/en-us/121011. So, starting from 15.0, we have to allow "Local Network" usage for each application. But when I run the "mvn test" command from the terminal, it does not ask me if I allow Local Network usage and that's why my mvn test gets an error. But in normal applications, the same transaction works differently; For example, if I use the terminal of VSCode.app, it pops up a popup asking if I allow it and I allow it. Then, I see that this application has been added under Local Network. I definitely think there is a bug here. Even though I allowed the postgresql jdbc driver with the "socketfilterfw" command, it doesn't work. Even though I allowed maven, it doesn't come under "Local Network applications". 1- Here, there definitely needs to be an option to add an application to the "Local Network" screen. 2- We need to define the "Local Network" usage authorization for all my applications or the relevant user with a single permission. The worst part here is for CI servers. There are too many application runtimes in CI. It is unnecessary to bother with authorizing all of them here.

How to clear a "stuck" FileProvider
On some systems we are running into situations where we have an existing domain, but it remains in a stuck state where the domain exists but when attempting to interact with the domain to establish an XPC connection we get: =Error Domain=NSFileProviderInternalErrorDomain Code=0 "No valid file provider found from URL file:///Users/User/Library/CloudStorage/ProviderName-ProviderName." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=No valid file provider found from URL file:///Users/User/Library/CloudStorage/Provider-Provider. Nothing that I've been able to do on an affected user account allows our app's domain to be added without facing errors. If we switch to a different user profile the domain is added and we can establish an XPC connection without any issues. So far I have tried: Removing the domain via NSFileProviderManager.removeAllDomains() Navigating to the domain in locations with the app uninstalled and deleting via the prompt within the Finder window Removing the plugin using: pluginkit -r /Applications/AppName.app/Contents/PlugIns/ProviderName.appex Removing the group container folder for the app from ~/Library/Group Containers and the app's data from ~/Library/Application Support/FileProvider/ I recognize that there is a profile (https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/profiles-and-logs/?platform=macos&name=Icloud) for additional logging, but having an end user install this is cumbersome. While I have encountered similar behavior myself I observed unix exception error 17 using console streaming logs though I can't be sure my issue is identical to the customers until we try and repeat the results on their systems with console streaming. macOS 15 has, deliberately, removed some of the options available in fileproviderctl to remove domains. If a fileProvider domain is in a bad state, how are we supposed to remove it? Relying only on NSFileProviderManager calls isn't helpful if these calls fail.

[macOS] Failed to perform in-line receipt renewal for application at path <path>
Hello, I have a customer who keeps getting an "app is damaged" error for a freshly downloaded app from the Mac App Store. The logs show the following lines: standard 12:58:40.390872+0200 storeuid Receipt Validation (at.EternalStorms.Yoink) Signature Check: PASS Bundle ID Check: PASS Bundle Version Check: PASS GUID Check: PASS Expiration Check: PASS standard 12:58:40.391649+0200 storelegacy StoreLegacy: Failed to perform in-line receipt renewal for application at path /Applications/Yoink.app : '(null)' The Mac in question is running macOS 12 Monterey - curiously, the customer has another Mac with that same system version and there it works just fine. What can be done to make this work again? Thank you, – Matthias

[macOS] AppTransaction questions (internet connection requirement)
Hello, I hope to find out more about how AppTransaction works on macOS, specifically about its internet connection requirements: if I use this to validate that the app is a legit purchase from the Mac App Store, I would not want it to have an always-on requirement just to validate. Does AppTransaction require the user to always be online for AppTransaction.shared ? When an app is downloaded from the Mac App Store, is the data needed for AppTransaction automatically embedded during that download, or is that data downloaded upon first launch of the app, therefore requiring an internet connection at launch time? Once the data/receipt has been downloaded by AppTransaction, is it cached until the app's next update, or is it cleared at some time during the version's life and needs to be re-downloaded, therefore requiring an internet connection at launch? Where is that receipt/data stored? Also, if you don't mind me sneaking in this non-related but sort of related question, in terms of receipt validation: Does macOS Sequoia's MAC address rotation feature affect receipt validation in any way when using IOKit? Thank you kindly, – Matthias

Fetch workgroup / active directory domain name programatically in Obj-C / Swift
Previously, I used to have the below code to get workgroup / domain name of the active directory service provider. SCDynamicStoreRef storeRef = SCDynamicStoreCreate(NULL, (CFStringRef)@"GetWorkgroup", NULL, NULL); CFPropertyListRef global = SCDynamicStoreCopyValue (storeRef,CFSTR("State:/Network/Global/SMB")); id workgroup = [(__bridge NSDictionary *)global valueForKey:@"Workgroup"]; On few Macs (probably starting from Sonoma), the workgroup property is not set. What is the alternative to get this information programatically?

SMAppService fails to register agent with MDM
btm_launchagent.txt I have a menu bar app which should be triggered to start when a system extension is successfully installed. The menu bar app is configured as a agent which should be started by SMAppServer. SMAppService register/unregister the agent successfully when the program is running locally. When doing the program installation through JamfNow, which is a MDM system, it fails with following error. I think the problem here is that the backgroundtaskmanagementd trys to register the agent with an invalid uid=-1 or uid: 4294967295(0xFFFFFFFF). 2024-10-02 10:45:33.100537+0200 0x156d4 Activity 0x1b927 88 0 smd: (BackgroundTaskManagement) BTMManager.getEffectiveDisposition 2024-10-02 10:45:33.103478+0200 0x156dd Default 0x1b927 282 0 backgroundtaskmanagementd: [com.apple.backgroundtaskmanagement:main] effectiveItemDisposition: appURL=file:///Applications/Company%20Agent.app/, type=agent, url=Contents/Library/LaunchAgents/com.Company.agent.notifier.plist -- file:///, config={ BTMConfigArguments = ( );
