Hello,I know that Apple has allowed to implement in-app purchases for tipping since last year. I read the guidelines but I'm now sure if I interpret them correctly. For example if you have a photo editing app. After the user has successfully saved the photo that he edited with the app, could it simply show a message like:"Do you like the app? Please leave a tip:" and add different buttons to choose from:"Pay $0,99 tip""Pay $4,99 tip""Pay $9,99 tip""No, thanks"Would that be in compliance with Apple's guidelines?Thank you!

Hello,If an organization adds a new app developer who is working remotely to their Apple Developer/App Store Connect account and you only assign the role "developer" to that person, can that person do any bad things to the organization? Do you simply have to trust the person? What can be done to make sure the person is trustworthy? Are there any precautions or additional safety measures that an organization could implement to make sure that a new team member (who is working remotely only) can't abuse the rights that the "developer" role in the Apple Developer/App Store Connect account offers? What would be the worst thing that a person could do if he has access to the organization's Apple Developer/App Store Connect account with "developer" role?Thank you so much, kind regards and stay safe these days!
Hello,Apple has posted a message to extend the deadline for adhering to new requirements: https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=03262020bDoes this only apply if you submit an update of an app or a new app for review?Or does this also affect existing apps that are already live and "Ready for Sale"? Will they be kicked out of the App Store if they don't adhere to these new requirements?Thank you so much!
Hello,When I add a new developer to an Organization's App Store Connect account with the role "Developer" and if I also check the box "Access to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" and only grant that person access to one specific app. Will the developer then be able to access only those profiles that were made for the explicit app id that he has access to? Or can he also access all other profiles in the developer account (also those that were made for other apps than the one that he has access to)?Thank you so much!
Hello,
with iOS 14 users can give apps permission to access:
a) all photos
b) selected photos
c) no photos
Is there any way for an app with "selected photos" permission to still save images in a newly created album?
At the moment, if an app only has permission for selected photos it seems that the app can't create any new albums. Is that intended behavior or just an iOS 14 Beta issue which will be fixed in the final iOS 14 release?
Thank you so much!
Hello,
Does Apple already accept apps built with Xcode 12 iOS 14 SDK? Will they already review those apps?
If not, when will developers be able to submit apps for review that are build with Xcode 12 iOS 14 SDK?
Thank you!
Hello,
Will it be mandatory for new apps and updates to use the AppTrackingTransparency framework and show the alert that asks for tracking permission if an app uses AdMob ads (Google Mobile Ads SDK)?
Or if the app does not use the AppTrackingTransparency framework does that simply mean that the Google AdMob SDK can't use the IDFA and the ads will be less targeted for the user? Or does Apple always require to use the AppTrackingTransparency framework and ask for tracking if an app uses Google AdMob ads?
Thank you!
Hello,
As far as I know, schools download apps for their student iPads via the "Apple School Manager".
Through this, I guess schools can buy apps for their student iPads and developers can give discounts for certain purchase quantities, right?
However, it seems that the School App Store does not allow in-app purchases. Is that right? (Or schools can't do in-app purchases?)
So, if an already existing app includes in-app purchases, would a developer therefore need to create a 2nd separate paid version of the app with no in-app purchases that schools can download from the Apple School Store ("Apple School Manager")?
Does this require creating a whole new separate app that is only available in the App Store for Schools, or is it possible to create some kind of sub-version under the already existing app, so that the sub version does not contain in-app purchases and can be made available for a fee in the Apple School Store?
Or what would be the right approach otherwise?
Thank you so much!
Hello,
I remember a few years ago Apple had a guideline saying that if your app uses subscriptions it's required to have links to your privacy policy and terms and conditions in the subscription screen. Also it was necessary to add the subscription price to your app's meta data description text in App Store Connect.
Does Apple still require all this? I can't find anything regarding that in the guidelines (https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/).
Thank you so much!
Hello,
At https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/skpaymentqueue/3566726-presentcoderedemptionsheet Apple describes a way to enables users to redeem subscription offer codes. Unfortunately according to https://help.apple.com/app-store-connect/#/dev6a098e4b1 this only seems to relate to auto-renewable subscriptions. Is that right? Is there also a way to offer codes for non-renewing subscriptions?
Thank you so much!
Hello,
When I try to test a new non-renewing subscription in-app purchase I get a weird prompt from iOS:
"Ask Permission", "A request to buy ... will be sent to your parent or guardian"
(please see screenshot below)
I'm using sandbox testers that can be specified at https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/access/testers
(all testers have a birth year specified at 1980 or older, so there should be now reason for Apple to consider it a child account)
I already tried to set up new and different sandbox testers with different App Store regions at https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/access/testers but nothing helps.
(Only a non-renewing subscription seems to be affected. I was able to complete other (non consumable) in-app purchases without any problems.)
I can't complete the purchase and can't finish my app as long as this problem exists. Does someone has a solution?
(nothing at all happens when I tap "ask")
Thank you so much!
Hello,
I have received an email from Apple saying:
"We’re reaching out because your banking information in iTunes Connect is invalid and needs to be corrected to ensure the successful payment of any amounts owed to you."
But I have not changed anything. I'm using the same bank account since two years and I have always received the monthly payment from Apple.
When I go to App Store Connect so see my banking information at https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/agreements/#/banking everything is still correct and the status of my bank account is "Clear".
What can I do?
Has someone else received the same email? Was it maybe a bug at Apple that caused sending this email to developers even if their banking information is correct?
The email doesn't seems like a phishing mail since the links in the email are really going to apple.com (however, I haven't clicked them anyway).
Thank you!
Hello,
I have a monthly subscription with a 1 year introductory offer.
When I don't make any changes to the regular monthly price, but increase the price for the introductory offer, then existing subscribers will NOT be notified in any way, is that correct?
Only if I would increase the price of the regular monthly subscription then existing subscribers will be notified before the 1 year introductory offer is over and the regular monthly subscription starts, is that right?
Thank you!
Hello,
My app is available in various languages that I have added as localizations to my app's meta data and the app itself. Unfortunately I set the primary language in App Store Connect to German and not to English.
Two questions:
1:
I'm wondering in which language the App Store meta data will be displayed in countries for which I haven't added a localization in App Store connect? Will it be English or the primary language (German in this case)?
Example:
-App Store description and screenshots are available in the following localizations:
English, German, French, Spanish
-App's primary language in App Store Connect: German
Question:
In which language will people in e.g. Poland who have set their iPhone to Polish language see my app? There is no localization for Polish available. There is an English localization available but the primary language in App Store Connect is set to German. Will people in Poland in this example see my app in the Polish App Store in German or English localization?
2: When I now change the primary language of an app in App Store Connect from German to English does this have any consequences?
Can I do that without being afraid of loosing meta data like screenshots, description, keywords etc.?
I don't have to add all this new for all languages, do I?
Do I have to pay attention to anything else?
Thank you so much for your help!
Hello,
I just wanted to create an app update. In the past under the 6.7 inch screenshot section there was the word "optional" which disappeared now.
Does that mean that 6.7 screenshots are required now for all updates and new apps?
It seems so. But unfortunately I haven't seen any official announcement yet. Can anyone confirm?
Thank you so much!
