FaceID failing in iOS 17.5 B2 on iPhone 12 mini
FaceID fails with "Problem with TrueDepth camera" in iOS 17.5 B2 on an iPhone 12 mini. I've erased the phone and restored from iCloud backup, and though it began to work again properly, FaceID soon failed again - maybe after an hour or two. I don't believe this is a TrueDepth camera hardware problem. I've erased and restored a second time and I expect it to fail again. I'd like to downgrade to 17.4.1 but the erase/restore procedure installs the beta, even when I deselect the Developer Beta option. Anyone else seeing this? TIA

Time Machine backup from 13.5B2 client to 13.4 host creates new sparse bundle
System A = iMac running OS 13.4. (Time Machine host -- with 2 share pointed drives - call them A1 & A2) System B = iMac running OS 13.4 (Alternates backups to A1 and A2) System C = MacBook running OS 13.5B2 (Alternates backups A1 and A2) I had to rebuild System A and reconfigure the sharepoints. My problem is that now C is no longer binding with its respective "C.sparsebundle" files. Rather, it is creating new ones named "C_1.sparsebundle". What, if anything, am I doing incorrectly?

Monterey B1 on VMWare Fusion fails
I tried upgrading a Big Sur VM (VMWare Fusion) to MacOS Monterey B1. The install went black, hung up and died, leaving me with a bricked VM. Luckily, this was an experimental VM that I could restore from backup. The host is a Late 2014 27" Retina 5K iMac. I just discovered that Monterey won't support my hardware, and I assume it won't support its client VM's either. I wish that the installer surveyed the hardware and blocked the installation to save me the headache and heartache.
