Choosing the "New File From Template..." menu item, I just can't find how to create a SpriteKit Scene file (or SceneKit, by the way).
They seem to have disappeared from the chooser window (iOS and macOS).
Where are those gone ?

I have a .NET MAUI iOS app where its provisioning profiles at first expired a few days ago. So I created new "Apple Development" and "Apple Distribution" certificates using an existing certificate signing request created on 19 October 2023 at 11:46 AM, included the new certificates in the expired provisioning profiles, regenerated and downloaded the provisioning profiles.
In the "bundle signing" section of the "project properties" window of Visual Studio for Mac version 17.6.14 (build 413), I have made the following settings:
Configuration: release
Platform: any CPU
Signing identity is not set to automatic
I have selected the correct provisioning profile, but when deploying the app in release mode, the following error message is thrown so the app cannot be deployed to the device:

I just updated my machine to macOS 15, and while developing and running my app (with Xcode), I keep getting messages about my app "would like to access data from other apps". This happens even from Xcode Previews, so it's pretty annoying. My production app doesn't seem to be affected by this problem; the system prompt just pops when running the debug version.
I came across something about App Groups in macOS and how something has changed in macOS15 regarding system permissions. I use the "group.***" prefix in my macOS app, without the team prefix. Is that the problem here? But why is my production app working fine, but the development app is triggering the prompt repeatedly?
Would love any feedback or workarounds.

Incremental builds using xcodebuild are very slow, around 3x slower when compared to the same build using Xcode.
Recently, I discovered that CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO" fixed the issue, but of course, I can't then run iOS app.
It seems like automatic signing using xcodebuild is somehow broken. Therefore, I think I could set CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO" and sign it manually later. However, I'm not sure how to do that.
I checked what Xcode does and it's:

In Xcode 16, the checkbox for "Connect via network" is grayed out and cannot be unchecked. However, I would like to disable it because debugging via network is too slow for me. This feature has been bothering me for years now, wondering when Apple God will understand the suffering of developers.

I am working on a cross-platform application, and we recently released updates for our apps. We received a large number of crashes in our Crashlytics logs. All the crashes seem to occur in the APM submodule classes with "__isPlatformVersionAtLeast SIGABRT (ABORT)." I am editing my iOS project in Xcode 16 and want to use the "Swift Compiler - Upcoming Features" section of the build settings to selectively enable the new Swift 6 language features.
I have read the instructions for doing this and have dowloaded an Apple sample project and can see that section under the project and target-level Build Settings in the sample project
However, when I open my Xcode project in XCode 16 that section does not appear.
Is there any way for me to influence how Xcode 16 displays the build settings?
In fact, no "Swift Compiler" sections appear at all under my project Build Settings (All | Combined). There is a "User-Defined" section that has the Swift Version, Compilation Mode and Optimization level.
The project itself is several years old and was on a very old project version. I have upgraded my project document format to "Xcode 16" but it made no difference.
I have compared my project and the sample project in a text editor and both seem to have similar structure. I tried removing unused and outdated settings from my project but that also had no effect.
Is there an alternative to deleting my project file and adding the source files to it? I have a large project with multiple targets so that would be something I'd rather not do.
In Xcode 16, if you use automatic signing to build your app from the command line, you may run into a bug where Xcode repeatedly attempts and fails to migrate invalid developer account credentials. The Accounts settings in Xcode displays an "Unknown Apple ID" entry for each failed attempt. The xcodebuild command logs a message similar to the following text:

The issue is resolved in Xcode 16.1. If you use Xcode 16, you can workaround this issue by running the following command in Terminal:

The command removes and signs you out of all your developer accounts on the system.
Hi, I have a project that uses SwiftUI, where we have a TabView, and in one of the tabs, I have a NavigationStack(path:). And created a logic to clear the NavigationStack path everytime you change to another Tab.
But found a bug, that if for some reason when doing a navigation in the NavigationStack, and rapidly tapping to another Tab, the NavigationStack doesn't gets clean up, or even if you have for some reason something allocated in the view you were navigation, doesn't get deinit if you have the logic for deinit a object when dismissing the view.

The expected I am looking for is that everytime you change your tab, it cleans up the navigation stack, even if you change the tab when there is a navigation animation in process.
Reasoning
I am working on a tool that does swift code preprocessing, which is done by a custom script that gets passed as SWIFT_EXEC. This script does some magic and then calls the original swift compiler from /usr/bin/swiftc.
I am facing a rather non-common issue.
Problem
With the release of Xcode 16, for some reason xcodebuild now forcibly does not supply --compile-time-extraction flag to the appintentsmetadataprocessor, if xcodebuild also has a SWIFT_EXEC= argument.
(appintentsmetadataprocessor is a tool that is executed automatically by the xcode build system if the app is using App Intents feature).
Xcode 15 behaves fine in this regard and always passes --compile-time-extraction flag to appintentsmetadataprocessor (both with or without SWIFT_EXEC).
But when the --compile-time-extraction flag is not passed, the appintentsmetadataprocessor fails with an error, making xcodebuild fail as well, essentially making AppIntents unavailable if SWIFT_EXEC build setting is used.
Here's how to reproduce the issue:
Create a new iOS Xcode project, add AppIntents.framework to the list of linked frameworks, and run
xcodebuild SWIFT_EXEC=/usr/bin/swiftc
from the project directory.
If you're using Xcode 16 you will get a build error:
starting appintentsmetadataprocessor export
error: At least one halting error produced during export. No AppIntents metadata have been exported and this target is not usable with AppIntents until errors are resolved.
error: The operation couldn't be completed. (GeneratorBuildProductExtractor.BinaryScanningError 6.)
Alternatively, instead of running xcodebuild, one can add user-defined build setting SWIFT_EXEC=/usr/bin/swiftc to the xcode project target's build settings and build it from xcode, getting the same build failure error.
Question
The question I am hoping to get an answer or a hint to, is is there any kind of a workaround that would force appintentsmetadataprocessor to still get the --compile-time-extraction argument, when it is launched by the xcodebuild, so the build process completes sucessfully?
I also tried passing LM_COMPILE_TIME_EXTRACTION=YES to the xcodebuild, which, according to /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks/XCBuild.framework/Versions/A/PlugIns/XCBBuildService.bundle/Contents/PlugIns/XCBSpecifications.ideplugin/Contents/Resources/AppIntentsMetadata.xcspec, should enable --compile-time-extraction, however this setting seems to be either ignored or overridden once the SWIFT_EXEC is passed, making it useless.
Can this option be injected/enforced?

I'm currently making a project for a governamental entity and I need to make a .API file to test in a Iphone but it seems to me a need a developer account membership. As I'm working for free and it's for the goverment, I really don't want to pay just to test the app. Is there any subscription method that allows me just to test and later pay if the app is aproved?

I am seeking advice on how to improve the situation.

However, since upgrading to Xcode 16, the tests have not finished even after 2 hours.

According to the blog, while reviewing the xcodebuild-test-without-building.log, it was observed that the time from start to finish was about 4 minutes.
However, the overall “Run xcodebuild test-without-building” process took 23 minutes, with around 20 minutes of apparent idle time.
It seems that the idle time has increased even further with Xcode 16, resulting in more than twice the testing time.

Is there any way to reduce the overhead when running unit tests on Xcode Cloud, especially with the increased overhead in Xcode 16?

We are having trouble with the build times of xcode 16. Any solutions when will it be fix? Does anyone having the same issue. (I am using M2 Pro)
I have a major problem with team membership and Xcode.
I work in a company, where my apple account was added to the development team with app manager role. I can see that on the apple portal, everything seems fine there. I have been also provided with the provisioning profile for the project and signing certificate of the company.
However, when I log into Xcode the team does not show up anywhere. I am able to build the app, but cannot distribute to TestFlight (or anywhere else). When I use manual signing to choose the signing certificate it shows the "unknown team" message next to it. When I check my account in xcode it also only shows my personal team and does not allow to pick any other one (doesn't show any other one).
When I click the "+" button on my xcode account to add a certificate an error pops up: "You already have active certificate or a pending request". I do have a pending request to enroll into apple developers program, but everyone says you don't need one if you are added to the team, you can just operate as a team member.
Finally, when trying to upload to TestFlight, the following error is displayed: "No team for account ***"
I have tried deleting and re-adding all the certificates. I have tried logging in and out of Xcode, I have tried deleting and re-adding my account in Xcode. I have tried reloading everything. My account was deleted and re-added to developers team.
Nothing worked. I don't know the source of the issue, nor does my employer. I am new to ios development and this is my first project.

I don't use AVPlayerView anywhere in my application. A file-contents search of the entire source tree doesn't turn it up either. The application doesn't even get to the point of instantiating the app object, so none of my code is involved.
If I switch the target to my iPhone, it will build and run repeatedly. If I then switch back to "My Mac," it will build and run once... and then crash every time.
Further research shows that this only happens in Debug builds.
This is a major issue right now because iOS 18 broke authentication certificates (thus HTTPS), so anyone writing or debugging an app that needs network functionality must use HTTP on localhost. In my case, I'm dead in the water because I can't debug on my local machine.
Has anyone seen something like this before? I can find no reference to anything like it.
I have a project which contains local packages. One of the packages has an explicit dependency on package A, but the main project also has the same dependency. Both of them are pinned to the exact version at all times.
Should I manage "shared" dependencies at the project level for local packages? This seems counter intuitive at first, but this question is originating from me fighting with a "Build service could not create build operation: unable to load transferred PIF: The workspace contains multiple references with the same GUID" error in Xcode 16 (all versions). It happens when I switch branches. Closing and reopening Xcode does resolve the issue, but it's a real flow killer.
The guide below doesn't mention dependency graph best practice.
