Xcode (Cloud) vs. Playground App
Hej hej tl;dr. I have problems building a Playground App using Xcode Cloud and I created a reference repository to reproduce this. Did anyone try this before and succeeded? Maybe you have a hint about what's going wrong here. Initial Failure I followed the documentation for Building Swift packages and Swift Playgrounds app projects with Xcode Cloud and I have always run into the following error message: ❌ Code Signing Exporting for App Store Distribution failed. Please download the logs artifact for more information Check Logs “Fair game!” I thought, checked out the logs and see this error appearing twice in each of the following steps: Export archive for ad-hoc distribution Export archive for development distribution Export archive for app-store distribution 5.3 Sec. Run command: 'xcodebuild -exportArchive -archivePath /Volumes/workspace/tmp/3546d064-74fa-42d0-8b36-3623e18941be.xcarchive -exportPath /Volumes/workspace/adhocexport -exportOptionsPlist /Volumes/workspace/ci/ad-hoc-exportoptions.plist '-DVTPortalRequest.Endpoint=http://172.16.35.199:8089' -DVTProvisioningIsManaged=YES -IDEDistributionLogDirectory=/Volumes/workspace/tmp/ad-hoc-export-archive-logs -DVTSkipCertificateValidityCheck=YES -DVTServicesLogLevel=3' Error Command exited with non-zero exit-code: 70 Moving forward, I downloaded the logs artifact as suggested earlier. This is IDEDistribution.standard.log: 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Starting export with options: {"embedOnDemandResourcesAssetPacksInBundle":true,"teamID":"38R2LLP8AF","stripSwiftSymbols":true,"thinning":"<none>","iCloudContainerEnvironment":"Development","destination":"export","reformatterBundleIdentifier":"hamburg.plus.encore","uploadSymbols":true,"raiseProfileSupportOptionalToRequired":false,"buildNumber":"4","testFlightInternalTestingOnly":false,"manageAppVersionAndBuildNumber":false,"method":"ad-hoc","generateAppStoreInformation":false} This is IDEDistribution.critical.log (actually it's three times this single error, but I'll spare you the repetition): 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] -[IDEDistributionMethodManager orderedDistributionMethodsForTask:archive:logAspect:]: Error = Error Domain=IDEDistributionMethodManagerErrorDomain Code=2 "Unknown Distribution Error" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Unknown Distribution Error} And this is an excerpt (of hopefully relevant details) of IDEDistribution.verbose.log (again, this happens three times, only giving the relevant data points here): … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAdHoc: 0x600001590100> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAppStoreValidation: 0x6000015900f0> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAppStoreDistribution: 0x600001590120> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAdHoc: 0x600001590100> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Available distribution methods: {( <IDEDistributionMethodSaveBuiltProducts: 0x6000015f8060>, <IDEDistributionMethodExportArchive: 0x6000015f8070> )} Investigate Xcode Archive (*.xcarchive) At this point, I downloaded the Xcode archive from AppStoreConnect and realized that it only contained debug symbols for the app, but not the app itself. > ls -la /Users/herzi/Downloads/….xcarchive/Products total 0 drwxrwxr-x@ 2 herzi staff 64 27 Okt 12:21 . drwxrwxr-x@ 5 herzi staff 160 27 Okt 12:22 .. Notice the absence of the Applications folder that would contain the Application.app bundle. Current Status So I created a clean, sample repository for my integration. Did anyone try this before and succeeded? Maybe you have a hint about what's going wrong here.

XCode 16 crash on commit - SourceEditorDataSource.contentRangeForLineRange(_:) + 244
Whenever there is any change in Localizable.xcstrings, XCode 16 simply crashes. This happens since early betas and continues even through the latest XCode 16.2 beta. The issue is probably due to some obscure character somewhere in the now monolithic Localization.xcstrings file which now contains all (sometimes rather exotic) localizations - thus making pinpointing the offending character basically impossible. The issue seems to happen when the Commit UI tries to produce the delta in the Localizable.xcstrings source code. The crash in question is this: Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread 0 SourceEditor 0x132c33b04 SourceEditorDataSource.contentRangeForLineRange(_:) + 244 1 IDEDelta 0x362349768 specialized Collection.map<A, B>(_:) + 212 2 IDEDelta 0x362346198 SourceCodeGalleryExhibitEditor.delta_collapseToSuggestedLineRanges(for:) + 796 3 IDEDelta 0x362310e7c ComparisonContext.sessionDidScrapeDiffResults(_:) + 276 4 IDEDelta 0x3623111f8 @objc ComparisonContext.sessionDidScrapeDiffResults(_:) + 52 5 DeltaFoundation 0x1444bd4e8 -[DESession _notifySessionDidScrape] + 212 6 DeltaFoundation 0x1444bcf3c -[DESession _scrapeResults] + 400 I posted a FB about this way back then (FB14906558) and sent numerous reports but the issue is just not getting resolved.

Xcode 16 crashes my Vision Pro Object Tracking App
I created an Object & Hand Tracking app based on the sample code released here by Apple. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/exploring_object_tracking_with_arkit The app worked great and everything was fine, but I realized I was coding on Xcode 16 beta 3, so I installed the latest Xcode 16 from the App Store and tested by app there, and it completely crashed. No idea why. Here is the console dyld[1457]: Symbol not found: _$ss13withTaskGroup2of9returning9isolation4bodyq_xm_q_mScA_pSgYiq_ScGyxGzYaXEtYas8SendableRzr0_lF Referenced from: <3AF14FE4-0A5F-381C-9FC5-E2520728FC65> /private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/F74E88F2-874F-4AF4-9D9A-0EFB51C9B1BD/Hand Tracking.app/Hand Tracking.debug.dylib Expected in: <2F158065-9DC8-33D2-A4BF-CF0C8A32131B> /usr/lib/swift/libswift_Concurrency.dylib It was working perfectly fine on Xcode 16 beta 3, which makes me think it's an Xcode 16 issue, but no idea how to fix this. I also installed Xcode 16.2 beta (the newest beta) but same error. Please help if anyone knows what is wrong!

iPad Mini 7th Gen Not Supported by Xcode 16
I'm having issues supporting the brand new iPad Mini 7. No simulator and the actual device (just received) doesn't appear to be supported. So I can't test my SwiftUI apps on this new device. I can't even do a "Hello, world!" app. I get this: The developer disk image could not be mounted on this device: Error mounting image: 0xe800010f (kAMDMobileImageMounterPersonalizedBundleMissingVariantError: The bundle image is missing the requested variant for this device.) When will this new device be supported? Or is there a work-around? Or is there an update?

[Xcode16] Unable to install apps for development
My dev setup : Macos Sequoia - 15.0.1 (24A348) Xcode 16 - Version 16.0 (16A242d) iPhone15Pro - iOS Version 18.0.1 I recently upgraded to Sequoia which forced me to upgrade my Xcode version to 16. After this I am unable to deploy apps for testing on my iOS device. The build proceeds fine but then the installation hangs: Xcode says "Installing to " On the device, it just says Loading / Installing on the app icon and the install doesn't complete It remains stuck for a very long time with no progress and then I need to quit Xcode / manually hit 'Cancel download' on the device. Once in a way the installation goes through and the app runs fine. The same app used to install and run fine when deployed via Xcode15.3 (on macOS Sonoma). On one attempt I waited for 20mins or so and then app install failed with this message : "XPCErrorDescription" => <string: 0x1ef0097a0> { length = 22, contents = "Connection interrupted" } } Domain: IXRemoteErrorDomain Code: 6 User Info: { DVTErrorCreationDateKey = "2024-10-25 13:52:47 +0000"; IDERunOperationFailingWorker = IDEInstallCoreDeviceWorker; } -- Failed to install the app on the device. XCode 16 - Wifi debugging failed
Hi Apple Developer and DTS team, I facing a big problem when develop the application that trying to connect to WAC firmware (iOT device). When I debugging the the application, the real device switch internet connection to WAC wifi, and my XCode will showing as failed. The problem here when I trying to back to old network and trying to build again. the XCode will stuck on building with multiple installing application. Actually I seen that the XCode do not cancel old installing build. That issue not appears on XCode 15.4 with same source code. I belive that issue come from the bad internet connection. And now XCode 16 disable to turn off WIFI build as: That why I can't select the build and debugging the app over cable anymore. My question is: How I can disable WIFI debugging? Because my wifi debug not stable when I developing the application over WAC device. How I can cancelling the installing actions of XCode to build new one? Best Regards, A ****** iOS Developer guy. Hello, Dear Developers Problem Description My team is working on functionality test in iOS18. Basically, application functionality works as expected without any modification. However, We found a small issue in settings application. iOS 17 In iOS17, 3rd party OSS license string in settings application would been displayed if the license button is been clicked. Model: iPhone SE 3 OS Version: 17.6.1 iOS 18 However, in iOS18, nothing but a blank page. Model: iPhone SE 3 OS Version: 18.0.1 Settings.bundle Below are files in settings.bundle. What I've searched Using XCode 16 makes no change Nothing about settings.bundle in iOS 18 release note A similar post: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/764519 The solution in the post doesn't solve my problem. This post is a response to another post from Oct 17 that has already been locked for some reason: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/766500 After upgrading to Xcode 16.0, our build machine was no longer able to archive and upload builds to App Store Connect automatically, as every single time it would say: `IDEDistribution: Failed to log in with account "(null)" while checking for an App Store Connect account` I tried using the workaround in the post above as suggested, but it does not help the problem. Removing and signing out of the account just results in Xcode not being able to do automatic signing because it no longer has access to the account with privileges to do that automatic signing. error: exportArchive No Accounts error: exportArchive No signing certificate "iOS Distribution" found I also tried Xcode 16.1 beta 3 as suggested and now the build machine's account is actually removed after every build via our build system! I have to log on after every build, log back in, and then upload the build to App Store Connect manually. I'm guessing that this "workaround" was added to Xcode itself, which is not serving its intended purpose and has actually made things worse. Not sure if there is a more official venue to send a bug report, but I'm posting here for help since that's where I originally found the post and it appeared to be written by an Apple engineer. Any other possible workarounds? Should I try one of the newer beta releases? Any help would be appreciated as this is becoming very cumbersome and a routine update of Xcode on our build machine has caused a ton of headaches.

Xcode Arguments Passed On Launch won't load
I am building and running a simple Open MPI C application. In order to run it, I configured the run process in this way:\ Edit Scheme -> Run -> Info -> Executable -> Other... -> /path/to/mpiexec Edit Scheme -> Run -> Arguments -> Arguments Passed On Launch -> -np 4 "$(BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR)/$(EXECUTABLE_NAME)" Now, instead of the hardcoded "4" as the number of processes, I want to specify an environment variable (like the already existing BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR and EXECUTABLE_NAME environment variables), so I enter in Environment Variables NUM_PROCS as Name and 4 as Value. Thus, I write in Arguments Passed On Launch the whole quoted string: "-np" "$(NUM_PROCS)" "$(BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR)/$(EXECUTABLE_NAME)". And Xcode can't read the NUM_PROCS environment variable (despite I can easily read it in the C program by a getenv("NUM_PROCS")!), in fact, it runs the default number of processes of my system (12). I tried in a very large number the different ways of writing arguments (every string on a new line, with quotes, without quotes, ...), but none worked as I expected. App Crashes on iOS 12
Hello! My app is crashing on iOS 12. On other versions (i.e. 15, 17), we could not reproduce it. The problem occurs every once in a while. It simply crashes after a few seconds using the App. I got a crash report and will include in the post. Looks like Language exception crash , but i could not narrow it down to the cause of the problem. The crash happens under the "suggestd" name. Appreciate if someone can help. suggestd-2024-10-24-134830.txt

Breakpoint issue: 'self cannot be reconstructed'
Hello! We're working on a large app with over 400 modules in both Swift and Objective-C, totaling more than 3 million lines of code. Since the release of Xcode 15 and 16 this summer, we’ve been experiencing issues with LLDB that have made debugging practically impossible. Here are some of the problems we’re facing: The first breakpoint takes a very long time to hit. When using 'po self', we encounter the following error: error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename "$s5MyModule10PlayerViewCD" was not found (cached) error: Couldn't realize Swift AST type of self. Hint: using `v` to directly inspect variables and fields may still work. We get numerous log messages like this: Debugging will be degraded due to missing types. Rebuilding the project will regenerate the needed module files.warning: (arm64) /Users/egormerkushev/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/App-enhtbwiyebmjsffoqkqhhpshsfia/Build/Products/Debug-iphoneos/MyModule.framework/MyModule(UploadConfiguration.o) 0x000000000000079d: unable to locate module needed for external types: /Users/builder/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/ModuleCache.noindex/169D1N0MIKBUI/Security-3BRN4UPIIGHME.pcm error: '/Users/builder/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/ModuleCache.noindex/169D1N0MIKBUI/Security-3BRN4UPIIGHME.pcm' does not exist In the Derived Data folder, we find files with hash-like names, such as: Security-3JM2E93YFDLZNYHWPPIMWNENB.d Security-3JM2E93YFDLZNYHWPPIMWNENB.dia Security-3JM2E93YFDLZNYHWPPIMWNENB.pcm Security-3JM2E93YFDLZNYHWPPIMWNENB.scan Security-3NAAT3MGN7XY96KVJW529HR41.d Security-3NAAT3MGN7XY96KVJW529HR41.dia Security-3NAAT3MGN7XY96KVJW529HR41.pcm Security-3NAAT3MGN7XY96KVJW529HR41.scan Security-3RJH8STJC01N1KKN7JCY1WK7F.d Security-3RJH8STJC01N1KKN7JCY1WK7F.dia Security-3RJH8STJC01N1KKN7JCY1WK7F.pcm Security-3RJH8STJC01N1KKN7JCY1WK7F.scan Security-3TILE9XTY0B8UV9VYL7Y0MJN.d Security-3TILE9XTY0B8UV9VYL7Y0MJN.dia Security-3TILE9XTY0B8UV9VYL7Y0MJN.pcm Security-3TILE9XTY0B8UV9VYL7Y0MJN.scan Security-3ZE8O6ZPHE4L52UZGL0PCBA59.d Security-3ZE8O6ZPHE4L52UZGL0PCBA59.dia ...
