Does APFS work with Fusion Drives?

I seem to remember it didn't when first introduced with Sierra. Has that be fixed with High Sierra?

I bought a 8TB hard drive the other day (external with thunderbolt) and formatted with APFS with no issues but my 3TB fusion drive won't convert to APFS.

Nowadays (2022, BigSur&Monterey) it does but I ran into a nasty bug that I couldn't fix.

(So I hope someone's has a good idea, or that Apple will fix it)

A non standard fusion drive created with diskutil apfs create disk0s1 disk1s2 NAME (spanning 2 physical SSD's) returns a 'disk full' error when copying to the disk. It happens at exactly 50% full (so on the actual physical border from disk0 to disk1). As if the second disk was set read only or something

Disk Utility returns no errors or repairs The same space in the same container but formatted als JHFS+ worked as itended. Spanning worked flawless there. Convert didn't
