Running into strange error when attempting to resize a APFS container. Example APFS container is currently 499g with 161g free. Attempted to resize to 425, which should be logically okay. Removed other created APFS volumes with container that weren't necessary. GUI no go & apfs resizeContainer both kick back same error. fsck / apfs checks all come up green.


APFS Container Resize error code is 49153

Error: -69606: A problem occurred while resizing APFS Container structures


0: APFS Container Scheme - +499.3 GB disk1

Physical Store disk0s2

1: APFS Volume Macintosh HD 347.5 GB disk1s1

2: APFS Volume VM 1.1 GB disk1s2

3: APFS Volume Preboot 27.1 MB disk1s4

4: APFS Volume Recovery 519.6 MB disk1s5

Same issue here while trying to install Boot Camp. Unacceptable!

My fix for this was booting into recovery mode then

diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk3
fsck_apfs /dev/disk3
