iOS 14 no signal, no cellular data

Hi!
I've installed iOS beta 4 on my iPhone 11 Pro and since then, I lost the signal and I don't have data. I have another iPhone X with iOS 14, and I don't have issue with it. It only occurs on iPhone 11.

I tried many things like:
  • Reset network setting

  • Turn off/on airplane mode

  • Turn off/on cellular data

  • Hard reboot

  • Soft reboot

  • Reset content and data

  • Turn off/on roaming

...
Same issues
It seems that the cell is looking for the signal constantly.

Do you have any idea how to fix it ?
It’s finally fixed in the second iteration of iOS 14.2 and 14.3. Check for an update. Make sure u have service before the phone reboots to update the software. After that, most people should be fine at this point going forward me thinks.
Finally I decided to register in order to reply I am following this since long... @Jayfig78 what you mean is fixed and what you mean on 2nd iterarion of 14.2

My return from Android to iOS is being like a contrast between this f**ng problem of connectivyt and how iOS is working... and some tricks and features for the daily usage (and yes I miss some Android features...but both systems have good things and bad things... I am an IT engineer since 24 long and I try to be always objective on this but after using a lot an iPad I decided to go back and I am happy with the decission as interaction between ipad and iphone is very useful)

Getting back to the issue on 14.2 the cellular data loss is not solved..seems happens few times but is not addressed...
In my case it worked with no issues for 2 maybe 3 days..and started again... seems an issues regarding the capabilty to re-register to "anthennas" when losing 4G and trying to go back from 3G to 4G sometimes is not being registered properly..why? I dont know?..apple's fault? it seems yes..but who knows who is not following the "standards" or the best practices... 1 year ago it also happened and apple had to work in team with carriers due to a "bug" on software but related with some anthennas manufactures...what drives me crazy is how a company like Apple may fall again on the same problem..and how are not being able to solve it quickly and recognize that from 13.x -> 14.x something has happened on the baseband firmware...

once said this... anyone suffering the problem and testing the 14.3 Beta 1 (remeber is just first beta...so could bring other bugs) can confirm not after testing just some hours if the data connectivity loss is addressed? (aparently)

Just downloaded IOS 14.3 beta for my iPhone 8.

Made no difference. Still have no call ability, constantly getting Searching. Have now done every 'trick' on here that I've found.

Reset network setting - never works and just hangs. Same on IOS 14.2 and IOS 14.3 Beta
Turn off/on airplane mode - No difference
Turn off/on cellular data - Not an option as its not available
Hard reboot - Done
Take sim out and replaced - Done
Soft reboot - Done
Reset content and data - Done
Turn off/on roaming - Not an option as Mobile data just displays Error

In the mobile data section, I get "Error" displayed.

What annoys me is that my iPhone 7 which was going to my daughter has IOS 14.2 and works fine with the same SIM.

The quality control at Apple has steadily got worse and worse over the years. Its is getting to the stage where I think its more hassle than it's worth. I know Apple has to support lots of phones but they need to get their testing working. They have full control over the iPhone hardware, not 90%, not 99% but 100% so they should be able to write software that works. I can handle issues in IOS such as images or applications not working perfectly, but the iPhone has one main use, making and receiving phone calls. The rest is details.

As I must have a phone, I'll pull the sim and shove it in an Android phone until Apple can release software that fixes the problem.

For the people who want to have a fix.
I disabled 'VoLTE' as described by other users inside this forum and i have not had the problem since.
You can disable the setting inside settings>Mobile Data>Mobile Data Options>Voice & Data .
This can only be done when 4G is selected.

I'm using a iphone 7 and im still on ios 14.2.
I hope this will help some people.
@maf123

Which only works if mobile data in General works. On my phone and others, mobile data simply has the word error next to it.

@rwillett

Have you tried a hard reboot? by holding down the lock button and the volume down button.
Your phone might connect again and you will be able to change the setting

I had the same problem with the error in my mobile data menu saying i needed to update my software or my carrier data. The problem usually went away for a while after hard rebooting. Eventually i used DFU mode to reinstall ios 14.2 which still didnt work, but after disabling 'VoLTE' the problem just dissapeared.
I have done everything including reinstalling IOS 14.3 beta.

Nothing is working for me. The sim works in another phone, so thats not it. The iPhone 8 worked fine with 14.1 as well.

I've moved my sim to an Android phone for the moment as I need calls.

How can this be happening!!!
I am not able to use my iPhone 11 Pro after this software update!!!
This has been the same for the last two weeks.... :-(
Same issue here. I was hoping the last update would have a fix but no such luck.

Its getting really annoying carrying my iphone but not being able to use it until I airplane mode it first then wait 20 seconds for it to refresh.
Same issue. Updated to a new iPhone 11 and installed the 14.2 update. Have been unable to use 4G or even 3G since. Just get “No Service”. Have tried as many fixes as I’ve read in this thread
and none have worked. Severely disappointed, how on Earth is this not fixed yet? Awful.
Hi I was in a similar boat for the past 2 weeks.
Cannot make calls and every time I try to make a call it drops to 3G and then does nothing. Tried everything that has been suggested in the comments. Even a DFU restore and nothing worked.
I decided to go to my telco and was expecting them to tell me it was a iPhone issue but the lady noticed that VoLTE was turned off on my account. She turned it back on and refreshed my account and lo and behold it was fixed and I can make and receive calls now!! maybe this might work for some of you out there!
They have no idea who or what could have turned it off as it’s usually turned on as standard.

I have a similar issue. But I am not getting errors. But I was using a VPN and I can’t seem to turn it off.
Just got back from AT&T, got a new sim, finally got a signal, got home and the dreaded no cell, you need to update blah blah blah. Reinstalled 14.2 after wiping completely and after restoring my backup, behold, no signal but wifi. I know it's a baseband problem, if you look at modem firmware under general in settings, it is BLANK. So, something is corrupting the baseband firmware. All this is on iPhone 7, I can put my sim in my iPhone 6 and have no problems but it is on 12.4.9.
it’s the same for me to ..
I’ve been suffering from this issue for like a month my IPhone is Xs and Since I updated the iOS to 14.0 the cellular signal disappeared now and then and won’t come back until I shut the phone down and I updated the iOS to 14.2 to and still didn’t fixed ..
and when I tried to get their help they give the same list you wrote and none of them work so the only thing I have left is as they told me to restore and recovery my iPhone
I had this error happened to me too.
I was able to use the data the first day then it started to only display searching network or 4G but no data connection..
I fixed it by installing the APN of the certain carrier I was using. try searching for the setup procedure of your cellular data plan. it should be found there.

Hope this can help.
I have an Iphone 12 Pro. I was experiencing a cellular issue since IOS 14 came along, whereby I was dropping off the network even though 4G on one bar was still showing. Had to toggle Airplane mode to reset.

However, I downloaded and installed IOS 14.3 in beta about 40 hours ago and haven't had the problem appear since. Seems (fingers crossed) to have resolved it. I gather there is an modem update contained in 14.3. I have never downloaded a beta version before but the problem was annoying me so much, I felt it was worth rolling this dice this time around.
Keep us updated garyhurley ;) thanks

The same thing has happened to my sister. The phone reset a couple of times and now cannot do anything. First the screen wouldn’t work & now it does but there is no data or cannot then WiFi on, all of the buttons have been greyed out. This has been since the iOS 14 update.

has anyone managed to get a resolution from Apple?
iPhone 11 Pro, tried updating to iOS 14.3 public beta - did not help, the problem is still here.

I recently updated my iphone8 to 14.2 and had the same issues. Temporarily it would work by turning on and off airplane mode. Spoken to an adviser at apple and finally resolved it by deleting my vpn app Norton as wouldn’t allow me to just turn off. Haven’t had any issues since.
Hi folks . Same here
iPhone XS / Switzerland located/one week after updating to ios14.2 suddenly NO SERVICE . 3G was working for one day and that’s it . Apple chat support is saying to hand in the iPhone for repair as a software fault could not be the reason (funny). Tried all the things out which I found here . Hope the Apple guys will find a solution pretty ASAP. My mobile provider is also trying to help but no results so far . Will try a new SIM card and then hope for 14.3
same thing on my SE 2020,ios 14.1 still didn't update to 14.2 and its happening on a daily basis,I was worried that maybe it was issue on my side but now I see that others have same problem so looks like firmware is broken...
After a few weeks or so of trouble shooting, arguing with my cellular company (then realizing it was Apple and not them that was the problem) and resetting my phone numerous times, I’m deciding to make the switch to Galaxy. This is ridiculous to pay $1,000 for a phone and the update ruin my data connection. I can’t even listen to songs on Spotify or download a video on Netflix without wifi. And if it’s a private address, forget connection to wifi. I shouldn’t have to risk hackers getting access to my data to connect to my HOME wifi. I can’t connect to my own wifi without turning off private mode, makes NO sense that i can’t connect... at all, worked just fine before update. Never using Apple again, they have yet to fix the issue. Selling my iPhone ASAP. Fix this issue before you lose more customers. Shouldn’t have to go weeks without service when I pay to have good connection, and Apple (not my carrier) is ruining it.
I’m using iPhone XR. HUGE annoying data connection issues w both iOS 14.1 > would NOT recognize my wifi. Solution: reset network settings. I sure dod not want to, but it fixed 14.1, then with 14.2 > 3G, no 4G and NOOOO cellular data. Grr. Same solution (reset network settings) appears to have resolved this as well.
i’m not rushing to update my older iPad Air! ... maybe until I get a sys update that works on first install. Concerned that 3G, 4G, 5G ay regularly cause similar issues across the various iOS devices.

Dear Apple - GET ON THIS! Each rollout needs to be tested and working for wifi and cellular data on all iOS devices IN ADVANCE of rolling out an install. Less is just irresposible.
I have an iPhone SE 2020 only 6 months old. Updated to OS 14.1 a while ago, then suddenly out of nowhere I couldn't send texts.

Thinking it may be an OS bug, I updated to 14.2..... big mistake.

I went from just no texting, to "No Service" at all. No calls, texts.

I tried:
  • reset network settings multiple times

  • removed and replaced SIM card multiple times

  • toggling airplane mode off, waiting 30 seconds, then back on several times

  • toggling cellular data off, waiting a minute, then back on

And I spent an hour with my service carrier, going through every single troubleshooting step they had. The said service on their end looks great, no problems. And they said they've had a ton of other people with the exact same problem asking for help today, but it's an Apple OS problem.

So my phone is useless until Apple fixes this. No calls, no texts. Please developers, please fix this.
iOS 14 no signal, no cellular data
