Within the past 24 hours, the MBP failed to wake up from sleep twice. When I open the notebook, the screen was blank and would not respond to any input (keyboard, trackpad, etc.). The only way to bring it back is power cycle. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
unable to wake from sleep
iMac 5K, same problem. Cannot wake from sleep except by pressing power button.
So basically every user of mac has this issue, and still no one has a soluiton? I've lost plenty of work now due to this situation. Someone from Apple should respond to this thread in some way?!? Is a fix for this in progress for a future update? Not waking from sleep without reset is a very unfortunate "feature" of the new El Crapitan. That's not to mention the issues they've created with mac mail, but that's for a different thread, sorry.
Same here, iMac late 2014 5K doesn't wake the screen from sleep, though keyboard and mouse probably work fine. I have to restart using a linux side kick.
Otherwise el capitan not a big deal compared to Yosemity (should have waited with the update apparently : )) Oh, and yes Apple support wanted money for a helping hahaha, nice guys!
It seems that El Capitan has caused a few problems, I can't send emails, can't wake from sleep, so have to reboot and when I fixed that, but not sure how I did, I think it was a faulty memory stick, suddenly it by-passed the password and simply woke up! Now it's back to not waking up, the investigation is ongoing. There has been a beta version seeded this week, another one, so maybe they are working on the problems. I think it was launched too quickly!
Forward to today: again, system doesn't wake when lid opened. I press power button, laptop screen stays black/blank and Dell screen is fine. This time I was positive I had left the system in sleep mode. I pressed MBPro power button; no image on either Dell or internal display. I pressed brightness function key on keyboard -- no change.
In system preferences, I looked at power management...did not see causative setting. I looked at system log in console. I noticed several user agent and launchd entries in the log but didn't think related to power or display issues. With Sublime Text I removed several deprecated packages. Then I installed an update on Alfred that required and executed a sys prefs reload.
I am certain I left the MBPro in wake, laptop lid open, when I went to fix lunch. I came back to black screens on both monitors. I tried hard wake (power button) several times. Nothing. Came to this forum. There is a nearby LED light with magnet strip, so I'll test. Then do more research.
