Apple developer account under 18 years old?

Hi!

I'm a student and 14 years old and I'm near to release an application on the App Store. I have heard that I can't create a developer account because I'm under 18 years old. Is that true? If yes, is there another possible way that I can get my app on the app store. Preferably I would like to have it under my own name instead of my parents.

Can I create a developer account or not?

Thanks for all the answers!

Friendly regards,

Edwin

No, you need to be the age of majority in order to enter into legally binding agreements. A parent or guardian can share a (preferably new) account with you, but it will be under their name, since they would be the responsible party. You can transfer stuff to your own account when you are old enough.

Hi! Thanks for the answer! Can the legal name be my parent while the name that is displayed on the App store be my own?

No, the name will be that of the parent (the developer's personal name). You might be able to use an organization/company (not a sole proprietorship or single person business), but that is a whole different can of worms (organization entity, D-U-N-S number, etc).

Your parents would be responsible no matter what name they use when they sign up. They might be able to use your name as their own, especially if your last name and their last name are the same. Ask them to try signing up with your name and see what happens.

Yh this is one of the questions I have. I am 13 and want to use Xcode to release an app but I have come to the conclusion that I have to wait
