I am having the same problem. What is the answer? Did you work it out?
It works now. Not sure what happened (I did re-raise another ticket about 20 minutes ago just in case my email response wasn't received). I am very happy to start working on my apps now!
72 hours later, still can’t get into App Store connect. How long does it normally take? Is that normal?
Just an update for anyone else having the same problem. Now or in the future. After about 48 hours of waiting for a response, Apple support responded by saying "clear your browser settings/cookies" and try again.
Now I know this is a reasonable request, but its not like I hadn't been doing that and trying every single device I own with every single browser I have every hour for the past 2 days. So perhaps if you need to contact apple support about signing in, put in your first ticket that you already tried clearing cookies/settings, etc...
Hopefully its not another 48 hour wait for them to respond with something a bit more concrete. 😀
Separating your home and work life is a good idea.
It's a little more complicated than that. Apple doesn't collect income tax, only what is effectively a sales tax. In Australia, small businesses don't need to collect or pay a sales tax. The small business should keep that 10% tax on the sale. Apple seem to want to force the small business owner into having that tax collected and paid to the Australian Government?
I am beginning to thing that it's not a good idea to deal with Apple as a sole trader at all. The better option might be to throw away some money into registering a company.
I would love to hear how other Australians deal with this situation. The other thing is not clear to me, is if Apple is forcing GST on small businesses, do the small business owners get that tax back at tax time if they are in the low income category.
I wouldn't be surprised if CBA wanted to take a $50 cut. Did you try changing banks, did that help?
This is exactly what I am considering. Did you go through with it, how did it go? Did you find any useful information about it?
I am not sure if I can get Apple to display my actual business name instead of my personal name. It looks like we might need to do all of this paperwork to avoid that, so I am wondering how hard it is
Thanks for sharing, that is a little bit helpful. I think my main issue is trying to understand why a non US Citizen or resident would need to worry about US Tax issues. This is a bit of a surprise to me.
Does this mean for tax purposes Apple itself is treated as the seller, and Apple sells apps in different countries as a US entity? This doesnt explain then why Apple would be collecting (for example) Australian GST on sales, unless its collecting GST on the commission Apple Takes rather than the entire cost of each sale? IS that what happens?
How did you go, did this work out? Were submitting to the Australian store soon as well.
