Eclipse (4.4) and other Java applications unusable under El Capitan DP3

Eclipse was working properly under Beta 1 and Beta 2, but seems to be having issues under Beta 3. The splash screen appears, and loading completes, and even shows my workspace. (Complete with projects, last-open tabs and contents, etc.)

However, the GUI thread seems completely stalled - I have the rainbow wheel of death perpetually, and cannot interact with any of the UI.

Update: I updated to Eclipse Mars (4.5) and am experiencing the same issue.

Unfortunately installing-rebooting didn't seem to help. Not sure if I need to change the default Java settings, but 'java -version' returned:

java version "1.8.0_45"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_45-b14)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.45-b02, mixed mode)

Thanks for sharing the proposed fix. I downlaoded and installed it but Eclipse Luna still locks as before. (sigh)

Hello,

For anyone that have this problem, you just need to download this:

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/07/10/031-25506/wy6k3cd22jejq1j83kmahud7zwbaxid2z6/OSXUpd10.11.pkg

Install and reboot.

Then you will be back to the developer preview 2 that does not have the issue that makes java apps hang and other apps, like Axure.

Hope this helps =)

Hello,

Here is the source of my previous answer:

Hope this helps !

Worked like a charm!!

Thank you!

It looks like it will also take you forward to Beta 2 as well, and now Eclipse no longer hangs. Thanks!

Anyone tried that using the first public beta of El Capitan? From what I understand, this takes you from the 3rd developer preview to the 2nd.

I installed the public beta, but it didn't work either.

That worked perfectly, thank you!

Worked perfectly! This is on the public beta.

How about the public beta 3 released today? Somebody tried?

Worked perfectly. Thank you!

i'm seeing a similar issue with the messages library (as mail). deleting the envelope index files resolved the Mail app, but any ideas on how to restore message threads after returning to DP2 from public beta?

Does CrashPlan work with DP 4? Has anyone tried?

Looks like Beta4 solves the problem, according to last posting in

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=472259

And I can confirm - with dp4 eclipse 4.4 starts again...
