App Submission Issue: Demo Account

Hello,

We submitted a new version of our application, the App Review team is requesting demo account credentials, however our login process requires unique facial biometrics to authenticate an account and log in. When we submitted our last app update the App Review team at that time said we could submit a demo video of the application to show the full features and functionality of it. We did the same thing this time and they rejected it saying a demo video could not be used. The issue is its impossible to provide a demo account for our app due to biometrics authentication as a mentioned earlier. When we asked for alternative solution they said they couldn't provide feedback on app concepts or features. Any suggestions on what we can do here?

What's the user journey for creating an account and logging in?

If someone comes along and wants to create an account, you must be asking for username/email and a password first, and then you ask if they want to setup biometric auth, right? If so, providing the App Review Team a new user account that hasn't yet bio-authed would be fine, because they would attempt to login and would be asked to setup bio auth.

However, if you're bypassing account details altogether and just going with bio auth, then can't the App Review Team just launch the app and create an account themselves?

You might have to revisit your user journey for logging in, and change it.

Hi @darkpaw

The user journey includes the following,

  1. choosing a ID
  2. setting up passwordless access via an email address
  3. Enrolling in biometrics(bio auth is required and not optional)
  4. Signing a Membership agreement

I guess we could just provide them with these instructions in order to create a new account them selves. Thanks for the idea.

hello, i am facing a similar problem. My app uses social logins as well, google and apple sign-in. Do i need to provide gmail and apple id credentials as well ?
