I was able to fix it by opening a new tab…then I was able to type and even use my other tabs again.

  • I can confirm this as a workaround. By opening a new tab, safari works as intended and faster than ever. Unless the app is closed from the switcher and reopened.

  • worked for me on 15.2 (19C5026i) I suspect something between too many tabs in too many tab groups. Probably one of them has an isssue and keeps running after launch.. but who knows

  • I think the issue resides in too many tabs being opened both in ungroup and grouped tabs. Closing a few will solve the problem.

In my case safari crashes when I watch YouTube for about 5-7 minutes.
