macOS Sierra beta 6 download links

Does anyone have direct download links for beta 6? I cannot get the update to appear in the App Store.

Yeah. Here they are for DP6:

update: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/36/32/031-72286/bob64610246uwu3f77m0oj6135sut275zw/OSXUpd10.12.pkg

patch: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/36/32/031-72286/bob64610246uwu3f77m0oj6135sut275zw/OSXUpd10.12Patch.pkg

firmware update: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/36/32/031-72286/bob64610246uwu3f77m0oj6135sut275zw/FirmwareUpdate.pkg

full bundle update: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/36/32/031-72286/bob64610246uwu3f77m0oj6135sut275zw/FullBundleUpdate.pkg

And to use the packages, it depends which partition you install from.

To install from same partition:

1. Start update via mac app store

2. Move packages into /Library/Updates/031-72286

3. Restart.

4. Go to updates tab in mac app store and click update

To install from different partition (preferably El Capitan):

Just run the packages individually, carefully selecting the Sierra partition on which to install.

Anybody have an idea how to re-enable beta downloads? Beta 6 still isn't showing for me. I thought I would disable and re-enable the "check for beta" box, with the idea that it would force a new check. Instead, once it is disabled, there doesn't appear to be a way to get the option to check for betas re-enabled.

I've tried the direct method as above, but no luck. Whenever I force a check (command-R), i eventually get "Can't load data from the Apple Software Update server."

Well I should point out that for the 2 methods I explained only the first requires that it shows up in the mac app store.

The second method does not require that it shows up in the mac app store.

So if it is not showing up in the mac app store, you can still update by installing from another partition.

In any case you can reenable sierra developer beta downloads via this command in terminal:

sudo softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.12seed-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz

thanks - still strange - in terminal:

Changed catalog to https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.12seed-10.12-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz

softwareupdate -l

Finding available software

Can't load data from the Apple Software Update server.

(The last comes back after a lengthy delay)

Well there is a much shorter url you can set it to for sierra developer betas. Try this:

sudo softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.12seed-1.sucatalog.gz

If that doesn't work then install the packages from another partition.

Where do you find these links?

I have been looking for them for previous beta's as well.

My MBP has DP5. I downloaded software from the above links, copied the four downloads into the folder /Library/Updates/031-72286. Restarted and checked updates in App Store. The updates are not showing up. Am I doing anthing wrong ?

You are doing this in the wrong order. Did you create the folder yourself? If so, you shouldn't.

You should let the mac app store create the folder for you. You say the update isn't showing up. It couldn't have created the folder for you if it wasn't even showing up.

The reason you need to let the mac app store create the folder for you and not create it yourself is because it puts other stuff in there, as well as in other places in your mac which facilitates the update and without this other stuff the update won't work via this method - even if all the packages are in the correct folder. And some of this other stuff can't even be downloaded.

So if you want to use this method, I suggest you delete the folder, start again and do it in the correct order this time. This will of course only work if it IS showing up in the mac app store.

Nevertheless, the other method I described above does not require that it shows up in the mac app store. So if it still doesn't you can install the packages individually from another partition (preferably El Capitan). It lets you do this from another partition, but not from the same one. Just be sure to carefully select the Sierra partition on which to install if you use this second method.

If it is not showing up in the mac app store what can I do? I have the PB4 (build number 16A293a) and I can't see the fifth public beta.

PB4 is not build 16A293a. That is already PB5 which is why you can't see the update. Did you get it via the full installer?

PB5 updated from previous public betas will get you to build 16A294a and the full installer for PB5 has a slightly lower build number but that is nothing to worry about since the build numbers are so close.

So I wouldn't bother trying to update to build 16A294a when you already have 16A293a. They are essentially both PB5.

Just update to PB6 instead. Links for these are here: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/60700
