need advice for resolving update rejection Lite vs Pro

I've had an app on the App Store since 2011'ish with a Pro and Lite version.

This week, updates to both apps were rejected for 4.3 Spam. My guess from searching forums is that this is not allowed anymore.

How have you guys been able to resolve this issue? Do I have to delete 1 app so the other can be updated?

This is really a bad catch-22 situation for me. If I delete Pro version, then lots of users are hurt. If I delete Lite version, then upgrade users are hurt and leaves users with no way to try out the full app.

I don't want to do anything rash/permanent so please let me know your experiences.

Thanks,

Robert

You can change the pro version to a free version that allows only the lite functions until either 1) the user purchases an IAP that upgrades it to pro or 2) an inspection of the original_app_version reveals the user had purchased a real pro Version. Then upgrade the lite version telling users to switch to the now-free pro.

Right now, I can't update either app! Question is if anyone has moved forward from here; maybe by deleting 1 app first, then trying to update remaining app?

Don’t delete either app. Follow what I proposed and make a note to App Review indicating that is what you are doing.

Have you considered adding distinct functionality to position the apps differently? E.g. some specialization, not in terms of content, but in terms of looks, tooling and workflows? Part of the apps different positioning can be different icons and names then. This can work and keep all users happy?
