Using watchOS 5 beta 1 and activity tracking seems to be very broken. I tried multiple activities that I do every week and the calories calculated, are way off previous levels. For example swimming today recorded 6 mins of activity with 49 calories burned for a 25 metre pool having done 80 lengths 😀 This was for an hour swim of 100 lengths which normally records about 800 - 900 calories. When I checked other activities they all see to be way off normal levels? Anyone else seen anything similar?
Activity tracking broken
Same issue for me. Heart rate is off, calories way way off, jumps around, etc.
Indoor cycle, calories don't continuously change, they jump around. have to stop/start a nmew workout for them to go. then they are wrong compared to Watch OS 4.x
totally broken
My outdoor activity, gps don’t trace the route, and I can see my friends sharing activity
Hi Djamesball,
Please excuse the coping and pasting from another thread (swamped at the moment, but really want to investigate your issue further!)- but can you file a bug report for the issue you're seeing?
Please first install the sysdiagnose profile from here: https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/profiles-and-logs/?platform=watchos
Restart your Watch
Reproduce the issue
Start a sysdiagnose from your Watch
Collect the logs from your iPhone
Attach the logs to your bug report.
Please 1 bug report per issue - it's easier to track things that way. 🙂
Thanks,
-nick
My exercise ring tracking is broken in watchOS 5. Anyone else have a broken exercise ring?
I have also issues with GPS supported workouts like outdoor running.
E.g. the track recording starts late, is incompletely recorded and therefore split times etc. are far off.
Also after a restore (unpair and pair again with iPhone X on iOS 12b1) the problems remain.
Any ideas how to solve this?
I’ve also tried a full restore, it this seems something fundemental. I’ve been trying to collect logs as requested, but haven’t completed yet. In testing it seems that the activity app just stop counting calories and heart rate. When walking it managed to track distance ok, with swimming it can’t even keep track of lengths. Whatever the issue is it’s beyond the activity app as 3rd party apps like gymaholic and swim pro also are effected. It also seems what get recorded in Apple health in the exercise record can be corrupted. lll complete capturing love this weekend and raise a bug report.
Activities on my watch (series 3) and iPhone (X) performed and were recorded normally during the beta up until June 9. Activities included indoor and outdoor cycling, indoor running, eliptical and walking. Betas for watch and phone were installed June 5. However, on June 9, the watch kept bugging me during a walk to record the walk. I alternately ignored and used the record feature. Instead of displaying calories on the watch face, it only displayed "Activity." Virtually nothing was recorded in the iPhone Activity app of an 9-mile walk. Instead of the usual calorie display, I only get "Activity."
UPDATE: watch reboot now shows Calories and exercise time, and the iPhone Activity app now shows the missing info for June 9.
I tried reinstalling my watch as a new watch.... for the next day I got odd Calories counts etc, but next day things worked much better.
My GPS during a Outdoor walk is at least 1/4 mile off. I walk everyday and keep track, so this is important to me.
same issue here. daily bicycle ride usually logs around 13km......only able to track 4.6km with the watch. Horrible tracking so far. No map show under activity either
I can´t see my friends activity, and i wont received friens invite to share activity
Where do we actually report this problem?
I have done some additional testing and feel it is the Activity App itself and not the GPS. I did my usual 1.90 mile walk yesterday, and the Activity App showed .25 miles less. Today I did the walk with my Pedometer ++ and at the end of the walk ot showed exactly 1.90 miles. I will try to test again later. Just for record this is the second Watch OS 5.0 that was released yesterday.
UPDATE: I completed another walk, on the same route no deviations from the usual 1.94 mile walk. I used the Activity tracker for Outdoor Walk. And the distance was spot on. I am very confused as the previous walk on the same path using the Activity App was .25 less than what it should be. I have walked this course thousands of time and the deviation is no more than 1 tenth of a mile but usually less. So maybe yesterday's walk was skewed by the problem with the install I had. After my Series 3 watch said updat complete, and I placed it on my wrist, my iPhone watch app still said installing. It stayed that way for a few hours, and then that disapeared. So could it have still have been installing, I don't see how. But again I could be wrong as i was the app. Yes the app has problems, such as the huge icon in top right during workout blocking the metrics.
