Are cryptocurrency referral programs always in violation of App Review Guideline 3.1.5(v)?
App Review guideline 3.1.5(v) says "Cryptocurrency apps may not offer currency for completing tasks, such as downloading other apps, encouraging other users to download, posting to social networks, etc." Popular cryptocurrency apps, such as Coinbase, are doing this very thing. That is, they have a button on the home screen of their app saying "Get $10" which when tapped prompts you to share a referral link to a friend and when they download and make a purchase, you'll receive $10 in Bitcoin. What is the reason that they are allowed to do this? Is it the case that if a system exists outside of the app, on the parent platform, it is allowed to be promoted within the app even if it is in violation of Appstore Review Guidelines? If we launch a cryptocurrency platform (website and app) and have a referral program on our website are we allowed to promote it within the app, natively, even though it would normally be a violation of guideline 3.1.5(v)?
