Monthly Subscription in App versus Company Website

Hello Everyone,

I am finishing up an application I have been working on for some time now. I am stuck at a dilema right now. Once its approved and released I want to charge my customers monthly, and planned on having them make payment through the company website that activate their login credientials. They would be using the app to login and soley view the data that is already there.

Will apple have an issue with this? or will I be foreced to make the subscription through the app?

I see some people have stated this is not an issue if I am not marketing the website or have any links to it in our application. Any help in this area woudl be great!! Depending on how this must be, will force me finish the development in two diffrent ways.

Best Regards,

James

You will want to read the guidelines, especially section 11. It sounds like you will have a problem with 11.1 but you may be able to operate under 11.14.

Hi I am facing the same issue, I'd like to provide free app access to ones who have signed up online only.

Will that be an issue with the app store guidelines?

This will be a problem. See:

3.1.1 In-App Purchase:

If you want to unlock features or functionality within your app, (by way of example: subscriptions, in-game currencies, game levels, access to premium content, or unlocking a full version), you must use in-app purchase. ....

3.1.4 Content Codes: Apps may not use their own mechanisms to unlock content or functionality....
