Yeah, I just got that alert on my iPhone 6. They must have planned for another beta sooner than this.

Same here. I was just looking in the media/Reddit for post about this. Either David is right and they planned for a newer beta by now, or they have a build for release and something happened? (maybe they finally learned to pull before it hit OTA/website?)

I had the same notification on my iPad!!

It's probably because the last beta was released 30 days ago so it assumes a new one has been released.....

I got it too, right at midnight local time. I wouldn't be surprised if beta 5 expires today or tomorrow.

That would be odd if iOS 9 b5 expired before the GM was released. I don't think they want an entire developer community to have to revert back to iOS 8.4.1 for a day or 3 just to update back to iOS 9. Does anyone else know if that's ever happened? I've always thought there was a path straight to the GM (and yes, I still plan on doing a clean install when iOS 9 comes out.) from beta release.

That said, I doubt Apple will leave us swinging in the wind for three days, so either we'll get a GM seed like we usually do a few days before release, or some kind of patch to keep it from expiring.

My best guess is just some kind of patch. Usually we've already had the GM by now, along with the invite to support our iOS * supported apps so that there are many apps running latest iOS by release of the new iOS. My theory is that they've got something they want to keep secret (Force Touch, etc.) and won't have a GM until the day of the 9th, with the release coming 2-9 days later.

I agree. I expect GM on the 9th then general release 1-2 weeks later.

Seeing the same as everyone else. Agreed that hopefully b5 at least 'lasts' until GM and doesn't brick our development units
