Metadata keyword advice

I've been publislishing app for 8 years now and in the keywords section I've been the word comma word comma approach with no spaces. If I had a phrase, I would break it up. Then i was just reading about appstore optimization techniques where they mention key phrases. so my question is does a key phrase hold more weight in searches then breaking it up.

example

key phrase - ,spelling words,

or

key words - ,spelling,words,

Thank you

It's not about weight, it's about difficulty (of competing).

Quoting the 'net:

"Long-tail App Store Keywords
Use longer app store keyword phrases (i.e. long-tail keywords) to outrank the competition. For example, it is hard to outrank Zynga Poker by the competitive keyword “Poker” (high difficulty). However, you would have a better chance to outrank it by utilizing keyword phrases such as, “Poker Casino”. This is because “Poker Casino” is less competitive (lower difficulty)."

Just remember that your reliance on a phrase is predicated on users typing in all or most of the characters in that phrase. The more characters, the more you're betting on users being diligent to type them in vs. giving into early results as they type.

I think Apple's 'real estate' example is worth noting in any case.

Keywords are a tricky business - good luck.

If you use keywords "spelling, word" then you will show up under both "word" and "spelling" but your ranking under either of those will most likely be very low. If you enter the keyword "spelling word" then you will not show up under "spelling" or under "word" (or at most your ranking will be very very low) and under "spelling word" your ranking will be high.
