HomePod balance issue

Before the stereo pair option was activated, it was easy to manage the volume levels to set the 'sound stage' in a central position.

Now with my Homepods set as a stereo pair I have an imbalance.

The 'sound stage' is biased towards the right-hand HomePod; if I swap channels (so the right-hand HomePod is plalying the left channel) the bias towards the right-hand speaker remains. This suggests it is the HomePod built-in room sensing that is causing the imbalance; I have followed the isntructions to reactivate the balancing algorithm a few times but it makes no difference.

Does anyone know how to manually manage the volume balance?

thanks

Some more tests (after ungrounding and regrouping, moving both devices to force rebalance):

still the balance is all wrong. To experience the best stereo image I need to position myself about 25% from left hand speaker (not where I want to be!). Playing the ‘ping’ to identify left and right, the left hand homepod is noticeably quieter than the right hand side.

The imbalance is more annoying by the day and could soon force reversion to the pre-homepod speakers...

This is not how it should be - surely someone can suggest a solution?

tis a beta. It will work better in September. 🙂
