I have a Series 2 Apple Watch. I have my iPhone loaded with iOS 12 and did fine. Now I am trying to install WatchOS 5 with config file and it goes through the normal downloading, then installing/Verifing the update. It starts to install (seeing the progression ring) ticks marks. It gets to about the 7-8 tick on the ring and my watch dings as if its done and lights up. My iPhone still says installing though. As soon as I back out of the watch app, the watch app then shows I have a update for my watch which in WastchOS 5. I go into settings on my watch and still says Im on 4.3.1 WatchOS.

        Anyone else having this issue?

          Hello,

          I have the same problem...

I have the beta 1 of Watchos 4.3.2 and despite the certificate and iphone ios12, impossible to put Watchos 5

            Same thing here, can confirm.

Also Series 2, on 4.3.1 (I went through all the 4.3.1 betas, so likely this is the latest beta/GM). Multiple reboots of iPhone/Watch didn't fix.

Same here: WatchOS 4.3.2 Beta 1, iOS12 on iPhone 7 plus.

No chance to install WatchOS 5.

same here WatchOS 4.3.1, iOS12 on iPhone X, ceritifcat is installed on Apple Watch Series 2. It gets to about the 7-8 tick on the ring and my watch looks like it is going well but then Apple Logo appears. Update fails and I have still WatchOS 4.3.1.

Same here. WatchOS 4.3.2b on a Series 2 Watch. iOS 12b1 on paired iPhone 7. Tried everything, including resetting, unpairing/pairing watch et cetera, but to no avail.

                      Yes, 4 attempts so far to install on a Series 2 with same result;

Installed no Problem, 1st time on a Series 1.

FYI: on my Series 3 after the round progress meter filled it totally stalled... Let it sit for several hours. Holding both buttons and restarting did result in it eventually successfully rebooting and working with 5.

Same issue here, its freaking me out. Tried like 4-6 with installing the update, resetting, setting up with my backups, setting up without backups. trying to view the log of it doesn't work either.

Reset all settings on my phone.

                            Same issues happening.

                            Any help would be great!

I have the profile installed on my watch, and I have installed the profile on my phone. I removed and re-added the profile. Same issues persists.

                                Hi All,

Thanks for your reports - can you help us out by filing a bug report here.

Please also include a sysdiagnose from your iPhone (a sysdiagnose from your Apple Watch if you can would be even better - please install the profile) and details on the exact issue you are seeing.

Seems like there are some folks who can't see the update at all, and some who go through and update process and are still on the previous watchOS.

Please reply back with your bug # and we'll take a look.

I am also having this exact same issue on my Series 2. iPhone 8 its paired with is updated to iOS 12 and the profile is installed on the watch correctly. Gets through the download and prepare steps then during installation gets about 8 pips into the progress bar before the watch restarts and boots up to 4.3.2.

I have tried re-pairing the watch and re-downloading the beta profile onto it but it is still failing the install. I have probably tried about 5 times.

Same issue here - Series 2 watch paired to an X updated to iOS 12 and correct profile installed.  I get to 14 pips and then the watch reboots and install fails.  I have repaired, setup from backup, setup from new, installed the profie and reinstalled the profile and it keeps failing.

Same *exact* scenario as original post. Super frustrating. Rebuilt watch s2 as a new device and no change.  Downloads, verifies, starts the install and after 7 ticks or so it bombs out to watchOS 4.3.1 and Watch app on phone thinks it’s atill installing.  I even reset my Gen 2 as a new watch and no change in behavior.

Put me down for the same issues everyone else is having... my s1 gets to about 13 ticks and then just cuts off and restarts, while the iPhone continues to install until it just stops and tries to start the installaiton procss over. I've done everything everyone else has done. I'm not waiting 2 weeks for a fix. They push a fix so we can use the beta now or I'm done with this 1980s garbage. The install process is pathetic and long. My 8 year old cousin can do better on accdient. Pick it up Apple. Do something great.

You need to make sure the WatchOS 5 profile is installed on both your phone, and your watch, run the install, and let it go into the apple logo screen, then go into the watch up, and ask your phone to unpair your watch. You shouldn't loose anything because it has backed up before the OS5 install. Once this is complete, the phone will tell you welcome to apple watch, and should give you the option to begin pairing, at which point the watch will have restarted, and show 'bring the watch into the viewfinder' to pair.

Repair the phone and watch, and walk through setup, and opt to restore from the backup that was made..

Then you should have a working watch again, with Watch OS 5 and no frozen boot loop logo.

Currently downloading, will report if it fixes things.

Edit : Can confirm that the installation now goes through (no longer stopping/restarting the watch after 7/8 ticks, from latest 4.3.1 GM on watch series 2). The whole thing takes a pretty long time (both first restart post install, the time when you see the tick thing again, and the second one with just the Apple logo, before you can actually use the watch) but all ok now. Thanks to the team for fixing it.

It took the usual (long) time to download to the watch, prepare the update, verify, install and reboot a couple more times but it seems to be working fine. I have a Series 2 watch.

My Apple Watch Series 3 updated to WatchOS 5 last night and it got stuck on the Apple logo and wouldn't do anything else.

I tried hard resets and all that I knew to do.  Called Apple Care and they were nice but basically told me that it wasn't anything they could help with and that I'd have to come to the forums to get answers.  I wasn't surprised but I was hopeful that with the number of issues they'd had with the beta that maybe they would have answers for me.  They didn't.  But I did ask how to reset my Watch and she had me unpair the watch from my iPhone and when I did and let it go through the cycle completely the Watch began unpairing itself and eventually I was able to have it reset to a new watch.  The iPhone allowed me to pair it and I set it up like a new Apple Watch so that I didn't get into the issue of the new OS.  My Apple Watch is loading fine now apparently so it looks like this works.  I'll wait to update to the beta when it's a little further along lol.  I'm sorry you've had issues but hope this helps!

You don't provide us with a mechanism to resore, though it is possible as there is a product out there that can do this but it should be within the users ability, like any of the other products, to recover.

I for one, don't feel like i can ever trust an Apple beta again, which is a real shame. Yes we all understand the risks of beta software, but it should never be allowed to be so bad that it can hose the hardware and leave a user no recourse other than sending away a watch to be reset because there is no way to restore the unit.

This is a real shame and will stop people testing beta software.

Guessing by the lack of Apple comment that they are disowning the developers who want to actively participate in making the product better.

Have to say they are nothing but helpful, i did via chat. So i guess we will see if Apple will pick up the bill or not.

Tarnishes the whole developer experience and will never be trusting beta's again.

Well I had the stuck on Apple logo nothing helps issue also.  contacted Apple and they had me send it back. Now they’re sending it back saying they were unable to fix it and a letter with the Watch explaining my options to fix it.

Watch was was working fine with no issues. I’m fact it downloaded the first beta 1 without issue. It hung up installing the updated beta 1.

I accept the the risks of installing betas, understand the issues but somehow it doesn’t seem fair that Apples beta trashes my watch and only Apple can decide if it’s covered by warranty.

Ive never had an issue with Apple warranty before, is there any appeal or am I out the $$$$$

But I guess I’m going to stop work on Watch apps, can’t afford the costs of fixing the watch every time a new beta comes out.

I had the same message back from apple as you've stated, but the watched arrived working fine. part of the diagnosis is a firmware update and so the watch gets "repaired" during the testing meaning nothing to repair. the letter stated the same.

i was a little concerened by the the email from apple about it but its now back on my wrist and working again

Sorry but any damage has been caused by the failure of the Beta 5 upgrade.

Said it before and will say it again, come on Apple take some f responsibility.

I am a developer, professionally, if i deploy a bug into our users systems i don't hide behind an NDA and and a statement saying it's not my problem. I don't provide the user a way to fix their own problems (Hmmm what else is like that ?????) so i have the ball..... to stand up and take ownership and fix the **** problem.

So Apple get your fingers out of your ears or elsewhere and fix the issue and stop expecting us dev's who are testing your product to solve it for yoo
