I understand there is a verification fee of $1, but if selected will we also be charged the cost of an Apple TV?

(If there is, that's totally fair! I'm just clarifying).

  This is a first AFAIK.
  $1 gets you the whole kit and kaboodle, including the new ATV.

    That seems to be the case. I'd be very surprised if I were selected but I'm hoping:)
    It would be awesome to have a new platform to work with and would definitely kick
    my own development work into gear.

I think the document said the Kit only cost $1 in checkout. But developers will be selected for this early product. It is great for Apple to pay attention on TV apps.

Just got this from support : "Thank you for contacting Apple Developer Program Support regarding Apple TV Developer Kit. My name is Aymeric and I will be happy to help. I understand that you need additional information regarding the Apple TV Developer Kit registration process and I will do my best to assist you. Juan Fidel, if you are selected, you will be able to choose your Credit Card during the checkout process and you’ll be charged $1.00 USD or in local currency." Yeah :)

How will developers get selected? Is it based on how popular the apps are or it's a lottery system? I'll be ****** if it based on how popular the developers' apps are because that'll prevent people like me who are new but want to work on the new stuff.

I can confirm that you will only be charged the $1 for the development kit.

We're really excited to be able to provide this opportunity to get your hands on this new hardware in advance of it being generally available. Can't wait to see what amazing apps you all come up with!

  Hey, I know the site said that developers with apps on the store would be prioritised.. How does this work with development agencies (like the one I work for) who have worked with some clients who an Apple TV app would be VERY useful for.. I'd love to see us being able to work with them to create something for this new platform but I don't want us to miss out on the chance of getting a Dev Kit because we don't upload the apps to the store :(

    In this case, the Developer Kit link is (as of the time I write this, it's still there) shown in the top page of tvOS.

    If you are interested in development for tvOS, you should read tvOS pages in the developer site carefully.

    normally they start sending devs who are sellected emails about how to get the dev kit
    i so hope i will get one but with my apps i will never be selected (8 apps online, 1 waiting for review and 1 in development, for apple tv, iOS and mac)
    but will everyone get an email, also if they are not selected ?
    and apple, please allow us in a month or so to purchase the new apple tv at its regular price so we can all start developing our apps and test them on this amazing new device
    i will be more then happy to pay the $149 for that device

I just got my email. I live in the United Kingdom. I clicked on the link in the email to submit my order but was unable to put in my address. It would only let me put in a USA address. Does anyone know if the Apple TV Developer Kit is not available for the United Kingdom?

    I received the email and live in Sweden. To me only US was available as delivery address and currency. Sent an email to support and will call them tomorrow.

  I had the same problem. I'm in France but could only put in a US address so I had it shipped to my parents, who live in the US. For those others in Europe there are US mail forwarding companies that will mail it to you here at relatively low cost (a small parcel sent DHL, that arrives in 3-5 days, is usually about $35). Nice to get free stuff. Nicer still to have the opportunity to write apps for it while the app store will be relatively empty. But it would've been good if we could've mailed them to our real addresses in Europe, especially considering the thought of explaining to customs that I only paid $1 for it.

  The issues with entering non-US addresses should be fixed at this point. If you were selected to receive one of the Developer Kits you should be able to go to http://developer.apple.com/tvos/developer-kit/order and submit your order with the correct address. Please let us know if you encounter any problems.

    I have been in contact with the developer support multiple times this day and they can't find out whats wrong.
    I have also been in contact with online store. I still see the same US forms. Using Safari browser and cleared history and cache multiple times.

      YES! Now have placed the order in the correct store (Sweden).
      
      I received an email this morning that said to login into appleid.apple.com and very my address. I did that and then placed the order throguht the link in the first email and it worked as a charm. Thank you for your support Apple.

Lucky you guys. My country is not eligible (Slovakia/Europe). Funny that all neighbouring countries are. Hungary, Austria, Czech republic, Poland. Well except Ukraine.

I got my confirmation email today, did the whole Checkout Process, and paid my $1.

Thats all there is to pay, and you even get free shipping.

My kit is now on its way! Cant wait.
