Disable Keyboard Shortcut Bar

Is it possible to disable the keyboard shortcut bar in iOS9?

I found this feature super annoying when it was introduced in iOS8, and promptly disabled it.

I can't find a way to do so on iOS9...hopefully there is one?

It works the same for me as in iOS 8. There are two ways

  1. Open any app that has a text field with auto-correct and make the keyboard appear. Press and hold the globe/smiley face icon on the keyboard to bring up the keyboard chooser and set Predictive off. If you only have one keyboard installed you might not have this key on your keyboard.
  2. Use Settings->General->Keyboards and set Predictive off.

Edit: it looks like iPad (and maybe iPhone 6 plus?) has an extra choice for 'Shortcuts' which are the new icons that sometimes appear. The keyboard chooser and Keyboards settings screen also have a 'Shortcuts' option that can be set to off. You need to set both Predictive and Shortcuts off on iPad to make the bar disappear completely.

As with iOS 8, an alternative to hiding the bar completely is to swipe down on the shortcuts bar. That reduces the height considerably but leaves a "grab handle" that can be used to swipe up to make it appear again.

Stupid bar is still showing at the bottom of my ipad. So annoying. Apple has gone down hill ever since Steve died. Damn it. Come back Steve!!!
