APFS MacBook Pro

While installing High Sierra on my Early 2011 MacBook Pro, there was not an option to use the new APFS. Booting my MacBook into recovery mode gives an option to use it, but it fails. Is APFS available for MacBooks yet?

What model is you MacBook Pro?

Also if your MacBook Pro doesn't have an SSD it won't do the conversion automatically.

Though my pre retna 2012 MacBook Pro, in which I've had a SSD installed the conversion went without a hitch.

I have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro. Like I said, when it is in recovery modes and i try to convert my drive to APFS, it fails. The error message says: “The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.DiskManagement error -69853)”

Is the HFS Plus volume encrypted with Core Storage (FileVault 2)?

You'll find my -69853 case in MacRumors Forums.

Did you ever get this resplved? I have not. On PB3 and get the same error code.

I got mine to finally convert. I made an image of my install to a USB drive using CCC. I booted from that drive and then Disk Utility was able to convert after I unmounted the internal SSD (which looks like external when you boot from USB. Hope this helps others.
