Softblock iPad usage

Hello!

The newest version of my company's app was rejected due to a bug on iPad. We have very few iPad users and never intended to support it in the first place (the option was selected by mistake). We cannot revoke iPad support via XCode, so I'm wondering if we can "softblock" iPad usage - if a user tries to sign up for our app on an iPad we return a message telling them they are on an unsupported device. Would this be permitted by Apple?

Can you say here what the bug is?

It was a UI issue that broke app navigation on some screens. The user wouldn't have seen the issue if we blocked them from signing up. We've fixed the bug and resubmitted the update for review, but we would still like to softblock iPad support in future versions of the app.
