I have a recently approved app (launched on March 11th).
On March 12th I generated 20 promo codes to hand out to users. These were generated in App Store Connect > Services > Promo Codes.
Users are now reporting that none of the promo codes work. Some don't get any message, the redeem dialogue just doesn't do anything. Others got an error "This item is no longer available".
Is this a bug or have I done a mistake when generating the promo codes?
I forgot to mention that I set the app to automatically release once approved and it's available in the app store.

This is happening to me too. But my apps have not been released recently. Reported by some users and verified on my devices. I don't get any message and the redeem dialogue does nothing. I tried changing a letter on the code, and the "invalid code" error message appears. So at least validation works, but redeem does not finalize.
I have submitted a ticket. Based on further testing, I have determined that the promo codes only work if users have their profile set on the Romanian app store (which is my home country and the country I have my own profile set on).
However, the app is set for global distribution in all countries and regions.

We believe we’ve resolved this issue. Promo codes should be able to be redeemed now. If not, please contact Apple Developer Support to let us know.
On my side, I can confirm that the issue seems to be resolved. The good thing is that previously generated codes that could not be redeemed because of this issue can still be used now after the fix.
