Apple rejected because I’m an individual, new rule?

Hi all,

I worked on an app that shows a list of events from a website. I have all the rights to use their data, in fact they are a client of mine.

But for some reason Apple wants me to be an organization instead of an individual. Has this happened to any of you before?

I have no idea why I NEED to be an organization as I have another app that does similar things.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

So I’m guessing the rejection is not so much the APL but the contents. Ie im listing events that are basically third parties. And for that I would need to be an organization. Instead of an individual. Right?

What is exactly the complete rejection message ?

This is the entire reply:

Guideline 5.1.1 - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage

We continue to find in our review that your app does not meet all of our requirements for apps that offer highly regulated services or handle sensitive user data. Specifically:

  • The account that submits the app must be enrolled in the Apple Developer Program as an organization, and not as an individual.

The guideline 5.1.1(ix) requirements give App Store users confidence that apps operating in highly regulated fields or that require sensitive user information are qualified to provide these services and will responsibly manage their data.

a list of events from a website

highly regulated services or handle sensitive user data.

What sort of "events" are they? Presumably Apple think that these events are either "highly regulated" or "sensitive".

I mean, technically if it’s your client and the data is related to such, especially events/calendar data related to a specific orginization, it’s not really public facing. It’s serving the needs of clients and thier own organization. If that makes sense.
