Subscription "Waiting for review" status stuck after been approved

We uploaded to App Store Connect a new app version with new subscription groups & items. Everything was approved, and we received the emails from App Store connect, but if we visit our App Store Connect account App, some of these subscription items are still "Waiting for review" for more than 4 days. It has no sense as the email informed us that the new app version and all the items had been approved. The app is online, but some subscription items are not available.

We even uploaded a new app version, it was updated, but the subscription items are still "Waiting for review".

Has anyone faced this problem? How do you solved it? We have contacted App Store Connect but it is pretty difficult to get real assistance, most of the time they reply with template email answers.

Hello there,

If the status of the subscription is "waiting for review", I would wait. However I understand that it may have a strange status and most likely the subscription was rejected, so personally if after a week the subscription isn't reviewed I would:

  1. Contact Apple and explain the issue

or

  1. Submit the app again (along with subscription)

Please let us know, how it goes.

After I contacted Apple, I submitted an update a week after. A day or 2 after approval the subscription was suddenly approved - felt pretty random. But it's there now :)

We have too problem with subscription plans, app was approved but plans waiting review

Also experiencing this.

I submitted my app for initial approval with the subscriptions attached, and the submission was rejected.

I made the requested changes and resubmitted, and the release was eventually approved. However, I checked my subscriptions and they had been rejected. I made some updates to them (I had no feedback on why they were rejected) and resubmitted for approval.

Since then I've had another app release approved but my subscriptions are still "Waiting for review".

Literally same here. My app is now in the app store live completely broken because subscriptions are missing. Any way to resolve?

This feel this is similar to what is happening to me. Submitted a brand new app and got a rejection based on a design issue. I immediately responded back that the app was already doing what they wanted and it got approved. Later I realized that all of my IAPs and subs were rejected in a "developer action needed" state. It gave me no indication of what action I needed to take so I assumed that they were put in that state because of my design rejection. I made minor changes to the wording so that it would let me submit them again. I resubmitted the IAP and subs. My IAPs got approved almost immediately. I did have one submission problem. For the subscription "App Store Localization" I kept getting an error when I tried to submit them. It wasn't until hours later that I was able to submit them without an error message. My subs are "in review" and my subscription "App Store Localization" are "waiting for review" for days.

I don't know if one (or any) of these is happening:

  • It's a problem with App Store Connect that Apple needs to look at
  • It's on hold for a (USA) holiday weekend
  • The subs are really still being reviewed. I just have a 3 month sub and a 1 year sub. Nothing fancy.

Status

  • App - approved
  • consumable IAP - approved
  • subscriptions - in review
  • subscription "App Store Localization" - waiting for review

Experiencing the exact same issue as @shiftingsand.

Same problem here, when i received email about app approval in that same mail was even confirmed that subscriptions was approved too. But in the app downloaded from store there is no any subscriptions and on the appstoreconnect page about subscriptions still a message that "Subscription returned. The information is given in the table below." but all the information there is only that subscriptions and localization are "Waiting for review" what really looks like a contradiction to the email that confirms that all (an app and the subscriptions) was approved. Contacted support about that problem via email, still waiting for some help 🤷‍♂️

I am having the same exact bug with one of my apps, I am based outside the US so no phone support for me, I looked everywhere for phone number to call, but no lock with that one, so I filled a form on the contact us page, it took four days exactly for apple to respond back, and basically asking me the same questions again about the bug, no I am waiting for another 4 days to another answer that I am sure that it's not helpful at all, any one got a work around it? or how were you able to solve it eventually?

I might have the same issue. The first version of my Mac app was approved last week, but the subscriptions weren't. So the app is currently in the Mac App Store without any subscription options. I don't even created an error message for this, so the upgrade screen is just blank. Not a great user experience.

I requested a phone call today but there wasn't anything they could do since the iOS version of the app is currently in review. What I understand from support is that subscriptions should be approved or rejected alongside the app itself. So the state that an app is approved but the subscriptions aren't shouldn't happen.

Support advised me to wait until the iOS version of the app is approved and then follow up if the subscriptions still aren't approved. Until then there is apparently nothing they can do, or so they told me.

Ditto for me. I took the advice in the thread and contacted: https://developer.apple.com/contact/. I left a callback number and they really called me within two minutes and talked through the problem. The lady submitted a ticket and my issue was resolved in 4 hours. I feel very fortunate. And as frustrating as all this can be with the different quirks, Apple really came through for me this time. Thank you Apple!

I have the same issue. My app is currently live and users are not able to subscribe. This has been the worst app release I've never had.

I contacted apple and they asked me to wait 48h and meanwhile my app is broken. Hopefully I won't get many bad reviews...

My app was also approved but the Subscription Group's English US localisation was rejected, due to which all 3 in app subscriptions were returned. Fortunately it was on manual release. I developer rejected the approved version, resubmitted but there was no way to attach the subscriptions, app was again approved but subscriptions are still "waiting for review".

I contacted App Review Support, their reply was standard that Apple Developer Program Support is looking into this issue.

This is the most absurd issue of AppStoreConnect, how can an app that depends upon IAPs to function be approved without in IAPs being approved.

A comment here said that they got a callback in 2 minutes and issue was resolved within 4 hours after they left their phone number. I did the same, but I guess this facility is only available for first world countries like U.S. and indie devs from 3rd world countries like me can just pray for a miracle to get the issues resolved via email with support team. I mean we pay the same $99 developer fee just like everyone else, what else can we do seriously.

For anyone else who sees this, always do this:

  1. For your first submission or any submission with IAPs attached always keep it on manual release, well always keep an update on manual release, it takes just 2 minutes to login and release the app.
  2. Make sure when you receive submission accepted email check that all IAPs submitted were also approved or not

Otherwise you will end up in a situation just like many here that your app will be on store without IAPs.

I have the same issue.

In the same boat. Submitted the app and the subscription for review (is there any way to "connect them"?) - The app was actually rejected because they couldn't find the subscription because of a server config issue. Fixed the issue and the app was approved. I foolishly assumed that the subscription was approved. It was rejected but with no reason given.

Made some random changes and resubmitted, hoping for the best. I talked to the expedite team and they said that a different team handles the IAP/subscription approvals. I think this structure may be the reason for the headache.

Part of the purpose of app review is to make sure customers can access the subscription and it is not deceptive. Unfortunately it seems like this process has led many to provide a confusing customer experience.

Hope we can see this out-of-sync issue fixed in the near future.
