Cannot add new user to my app team

I try to add a new user to my team (with a different email domain) in the App Store Connect and I get an error message saying: "A user with this email address already exists on this team."

This is the first time ever I try to add this user to my team. What is the issue here? Am I allowed to add only users with a gmail domain or with my company domain? I do not understand.

I am having the same issue, just started to experience the last week. I have not experienced this before. I have confirmed the user is not added to the user list various times but I still cannot add them. It's very frustrating. We were also having issues allowing external testers download a beta version, which is why I was trying to add a developer on a different team to the developer team to allow them to download the latest a bit faster. Any help would be appreciated. This is affecting feature development so quick help on what is happening would be appreciated ❤️

Same issue and it has happened many times. I can not understand what's happening with this unclear message.

I am having the same problem. The message is clearly wrong, since there's totally no user with the E-Mail address in my team. It's the one I am trying to add actually. This is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Same problem happening here. I was able to add a sandbox user about a year ago, tried today and I got that error.

Got into contact with Apple support. We can't add a user to sandbox testers if that user has a real Apple ID. So add an email address that hasn't been attached to an Apple ID.

Same. this issue is produced on following case.

  1. login to app store connect and go to https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/access/users
  2. login session expired but the browser isn't refreshed yet and i can see Users and Access page
  3. trying to add a user: input a user email and clicks invite button on New User form. the browser will be refreshed and logged out because the login session is expired.
  4. re-login app store connect and go to Users and Access page
  5. then can't see and add this email using on step 3 in Users and Access page.

I have encountered the same issue. After checking "Users and Access" -> "People" / "Sandbox", the email is existed in "Sandbox". This issue is gone after removing the email from "Sandbox".

I had this occur when a user clicked on 'Accept Invite' in the initial invitation, but was unable to login (either due to their own inability or a connection issue -- they were unable to describe exactly what they did or what happened).

Their user disappeared from our team's 'users' list and i could not re-add them, because they already existed (though they were completely invisible).

I asked them to send me the invite email, and I clicked on the 'Accept' link in it myself.

The next page acknowledged that the invite link had expired, and had an 'OK' button. I clicked that, then I returned to the 'Users' list, refreshed, and her user account appeared.

Is any of the above a sane or reasonable excuse for the user disappearing? No.

But perhaps it reset some cached data or similar, or finalized a workflow that was broken when the user couldn't log in after accepting.

Worth a try to resolve:

  • Have the user try to click on the invite 'Accept' link again.
  • Or open that link in an different browser.
  • Or, get the link and visit it yourself.
