Independent Watch App rejected because of wrong iPhone icon.

I'm currently trying to submit an independent Watch App on the AppStore, but it gets rejected again and again, because

We still noticed the app icon displayed on iPhone and the app icon displayed on Apple Watch do not sufficiently match, which makes it difficult for users to find the app they just downloaded.

In the rejection message here is always an attachment with a black icon.

Because this is an independent Watch App, there is no iPhone app and also no App icon on the iPhone. The only icon is shown in the watch App and it is correct, as every icon on the corresponding AppStore Connect page. The icons have been changed a few times to fulfill the interface guidelines. I've sent screenshots from my watch, iPhone and Safari, showing the icons, but they don't seem to be noticed.

Did anyone make the same experiences? What more can I do for my icons being accepted?

Thank you for your response. The app has been submitted by Xcode 12.5.1 and currently there are no adjustments for Series 7.

After contacting the App Review Board, the app has been approved for the App Store. So everything was fine with it and it's icons. This discussion can be closed.

AFAIK, all the apps installed (even watch only) on Apple Watch should be listed in the iPhone "Watch settings". Is it the case for your app ? If so, you have to provide an icon that is very close to the icon for the watch. Are they really different ? Why not the same ?

In the App "Watch" on the iPhone, where you can remove it from the watch, the icon is fine. It is Xcode's job to bring them to the right place when archiving the App. There are a few Apps from me in the AppStore, independent and iOS/Watch Apps. The latest one is a copy from one already available, modified for another purpose. All Icons are where and how they should be. At least if I compare them to the ones of the other app. In the meantime, the app has been approved for TestFlight, so I guess, I'm right and everything is ok with the icons. Now I hope, in the next round this will be the case with the AppStore submission.

Question to help us track down whether this might be an issue on your side or in the tools/OS: Which version of Xcode did you submit your app with? If Xcode 13, did you provide app icons at the new sizes required for Series 7 watches?

Also, would you be willing to share your app's name or bundleID?

Thanks!
