I received the update notification for Beta 2. I go to update and the download just seems to hang. I got down to 15 minutes left and it went for a few hours without completing. I rebooted and attempted the install again and now the update still shows as available but when i go to update it, nothing happens. I get the downloading message but no indication or progress. I let it run overnight just to see if it would eventually complete but it didn't. Is there something on the system that i need to clean up?
Unable to install macOS Monterey 12 Beta 2 - hangs
I had a very similar experience when trying to get iPadOS 15 beta 2 installed from my Mac which was running Monterey beta 2. I just kept trying, expecting to get different results. And lo & behold - after 3 days - I did: it finally just worked. My only suggestion is to just keep on trying…
The rather comical account of my trials: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/683943
I have the same issue. One of my MBP's just doesn't want to update. It gets stuck every time on "20min remaining" while "preparing macos Monterey 12 beta 2". I've tried a million times already for the last week. No idea what is causing this.
What I did notice though, when I try to boot the laptop into "safe mode", it actually doesn't want to do this. It ends with a black screen, a loading circle, shows a split second a cursor arrow in top left corner, black screen with only loading circle in the middle again and this loops and loops and loops. So trying installing this in safe mode is no option. I already did a nvram reset, ran first-aid on the disk and all seems ok. There is a ton of space free on the disk.... no ideas anymore.
Same issue here, I was unable to update to the Developer Preview beta 2, so I installed from a USB drive... Now I have the same issue again updating from beta 3 to beta 4
