Issues with tvOS 14.7 appears to have bricked my Apple TV

Per the title, 14.7 was running on an original 4K ATV (not the latest one) and I was watching content on it yesterday then all of a sudden screen goes blank, and ATV is fast flashing the LED. Its been doing this ever since. How do I resolve this and what caused it as this literally happened while just consuming content ?

How do I resolve this

There are a few options in order of difficulty:

  1. See if you can connect to it through Xcode/Configurator and restore back to 14.6 from there
  2. Trigger recovery mode (this will only erase and start 14.7 from scratch) by repeatedly unplugging and plugging power back in
  3. Contact support and explain the situation and that you’d like to revert back to 14.6

what caused it

Could be anything, comes with the territory of dealing with betas.

I have the same exact issue. Had to dumb down from 4K to 1024x768 SDR on my Sony 75”, just to get any kind of picture at all.
