Battery drain in ios 14.2

i updated my iphone 7+ to ios 14.2 and now i have battery drain problem and it takes long time to be charged and warmup during charging
Update: Even in airplane mode, iPad Pro 2018 draining battery. Back @85deg F, center above logo @95. For comparison iPad Pro 2015 @75 EVEN IN USE.
My iPhone SE(2016) and iPhone 8 Plus were just fine until the 14.2 update. Now the fully charged battery drops to 45% overnight and the charge drops rapidly even while simply reading my email. This cannot happen on both iPhones unless there is something wrong with the ios 14.2 update. I never had any battery issues before the 14.2 update. The battery health on my SE and 8 Plus is at 90% and 98% respectively. I don’t use my phones much, because I use my laptop for most of my online activities. I have already turned off and stored away the 8 Plus and I have ordered a Samsung phone for daily use. I hope apple can fix this issue asap so I can return to using my iPhones. Also, I love Touch ID, so I refuse to upgrade to iPhone 12, because I don’t want any phone with Face ID.
Thank you for posting this. My wife's iPhone 7 - same issue - significant battery drain problem started with installation of iOS 14 - had to follow Apple's guidance to unpair watch and reset the phone - did that - installed iOS 14.2 - problem didn't go away - so had to reset again - and in a couple of days - the problem became so severe and phone died completely - now I just have a brick - went to Apple store - and told them - phone was fine a couple of weeks ago before software updates and after software updates it's a brick - they as usual denied that it's not the software.
The phone was perfectly fine with 85% battery capacity - If i had not updated and taken to an ATT store - I could have traded in the phone for 350$ - now I got zilch.
Such incompetance from Apple - really - did they even test the software on older phones before releasing. Unbelievable.
My SE2020 has been getting worse battery time with each version of 14. Overnight when I was sleeping it would only lose 1-2% of battery over 8 hours. Last couple of weeks it loses 5% over 5-6 hours.
Another weird thing is when I go to charge it now the phone gets warm at times. It also charges fast almost as if it was a fast charger. This is with the standard 5w charger that came with it. This started with 14.2
iphone 7 ... same problem
I didn't know other users had the same battery drain issue after install of IOS 14.2. My iPhone X was suddenly losing charge. in the middle of day rather than going all day with plenty left over. I had scheduled an Appointment at Genuis Bar to replace Battery. I now have cancelled appointment, will wait for the next IOS 14.3 update to see if they have corrected this issue..
Yes. I've observed the similar behavior on my XR as well.
My iphone 11 has the same issue. It is frustrating! The batt usually finished the day w ~40%. After iOS 14.2 i have to recharge around 3pm. Some update... looks iOS 14 improved to make it worse. Why is it taking so much time to fix this??
Same with my iPhone 7 Plus. It gets warm even while browsing in Safari and I need to charge it around 2 times in a day. Also, it freezes when I unlock using Touch ID and I need to wait some time to use it.
Same here, iPhone 11 user, Battery Health dropped to 97% from 100%. Don't understand why Apple is doing this. Phone isn't even 1 year old.

Need a free battery replacement if this continues. But I'm sure we wont get it.
same here, I would like to issue a bug of IOS 14.2.1, settings=>accessibility=>voice recognition, then whole settings page crashes back to home page.

The ones who ever experienced development ,code review and module testing of IOS 14.2.1 are whole picec of shit. should've fired them off.

Now I see it, the last problem development team will handle is battery drain. I swear I will never update to any of update push unless battery drain has been substantially improved.
I had the same problem with my SE (1st gen). I simply restarted the phone.
same for XS, used my phone for nearly two years without any problem before updated to ios 14.2
The same problem with my XR 14.2. I noticed this when it turned off at 20%.
Same here. A 45 minutes run with runkeeper and the batterie is down to 20%!
Nothing seems to work to fix this.

Resetting the battery provided slight relief, and now it's back to charging twice a day just for pretty light use.

Never happened before.

Apple is losing lawsuits globally for unethical behaviour.

We can only hope that the battery drain is a bug, not a feature.

Why can't Apple address the concerns?

Will iOS 14.3 solve this, or not?

I am on the verge of going Android for life.

I have iPhone SE battery changed this year, in July. And one week ago, I found that the battery inflated, I think iOS 14.2 has serious Battery control system bug. I changed a new battery, and new battery level drops quickly as well.
iPhone X, same problem.

During my 40m iMessage support conversation my battery went from 75% to 25%. It wasn't like this a week ago before I updated.
Same here. I have an 8 and it’s been paid off. Sometimes I wonder if these “updates” are really damaging the phones so we will purchase a new one.
Iphone7, same battery draining issue noticed.
From 100% to 25% in 3h. Battery status is degraded, but the issue is much more noticeable in 14.2

Same! I'm literally watching it drain 1% a second! This needs fixed ASAP
Could not register as greenhorn lol

tried installing 14.3 beta 6hours ago approximately with no effect, or no evident effect, it is not worser after 14.2
enabled data sharing, decision out of despair, i just hope this thing
gets solved
does not damage battery permanently
se1 83% condition heading to charger future
Dude I thought I was going crazy, but it isn't just me...Please fix this, my phone was brand spanking new too and now it is such a pain in the ***. I need the battery to last a reasonable amount of time. Just ridiculous. Maybe the google phone is my Christmas present to myself...Fix it or loose a customer.
m experiencing the same on my iPad air 2
Same here, my own iphone and my wife's as well. Her iphone is two years newer than mine. This planned obsolescence is ridiculous.
