macOS Big Sur Beta 3 - An error occurred preparing the update

I can not update my 2019 iMac 27-inch to macOS Big Sir Beta 3. I always get at An error occurred preparing the update. Failed to personalize the software update. Please try again.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I just got the MacBook Air M1 and due to an issue with Migration, decided to format the hard drive and reinstall Big Sur. I was able to format successfully, but I can't reinstall Big Sur due to the same error mentioned in the question. Any ideas?
The same here on a brand new M1 Macbook air. After migrating from the old macbook air, the new macbook refused to take the "old" password to log in. We even considered wrong keyboard layout (qwerty vs azerty) so we also tried example password: "word", so we also tried "zord". No matter what we tried, the correct password was denied!
When trying to reset the passwordt, we got to the screen that said "deactivate macbook". We did not click that!
So we had contact with apple support and they let us reinstall Big Sur.
After a while of installing this error is where we are now. After trying "again", again the same error message.
What I'm trying to do next is "install from time machine".
There was no time machine backup from the old macbook air, so I'm waiting for it to finish and the I'll try that way....
It did not take the time machine backup! "You have to use migration assistent to restore from this backup" :(.
Deleted the SSD, and now installing again: 1- with the powercord installed, 2-made sure the right keyboard is selected in the right top corner!
I'll report back when finished, still 52 minutes to go...

Oh, wait, just now as I'm writing this :( :( :(
ERROR: Failed to personalize the update. Please try again.

Anybody ??
Same is happening to me “An error occurred preparing the update. Failed to personalize the software update. please try again.” on my M1 MacBook Air, i reset it to clear my SSD and near the end of the download for macOS Bigsur, that message just pops up. I’ve seen solutions on youtube that you can try, by the youtuber Mr. Macintosh, he has some good content for this type of problems and multiple solutions on how to fix it
same to me, anyone?????
i have a m1 mac
when i reinstalled mac os, i got this popup message : failed to personalize the software update
finally i could fix it by this youtube

title : How To Fix “Failed to Personalize the Software Update” or "Account Creation Failed" on M1 MacBooks

After 2 months of having a bricked M1 Macbook Air I have to say that the only way to fix it if every other method has failed, is taking it to an apple store and booking an appointment with the genius bar. Or if you have a secondary mac at home, you can try downloading an ipsw file that apple provided to fix this issue and use apple configurator 2. I haven’t been able to fix mine because All apple stores in California are closed, this whole situation is ******** ngl lol, I should’ve just built a pc instead.
Everything is different with the M1

I had this same issue after erasing my computer to do a full reinstall of Big Sur

Error was

"An error has occurred preparing the update.  Failed to personalize the software update. Please try again.”

I was mis-advised by several lower level tech support to erase both MacintoshHD and Data in Disk Utility and reinstall Big Sur. This does not work. Apple should maybe tell their tech support.

Here is the method to use:

Computer off

Hold power button until the computer begins to search for startup options

Click Options

Now, at the top menu bar, click Utilities and select Terminal

Enter this:

resetpassword

The click enter

Follow instructions

At the top bar, under Recovery Assistant, select Erase Mac

Once that's completed, when you go to reinstall Big Sur, you will only have one place to install it called MacintoshHD and it should work fine
