iOS/tvOS 14 Airplay - No audio

Using an iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 14 Public Beta 2 and an Apple TV 4k on tvOS 14, audio does not seem to be working when streaming a video from my phone to the Apple TV via Airplay.

Audio is working on the Apple TV when playing something on the device itself.

The video is not muted on my iPhone and plays audio fine if I switch back to my phone.

Sending a video from my iMac to the Apple TV via Airplay works fine (including audio).

I have restarted my phone and the Apple TV, and the problem persists. There just isn't no audio at all when streaming videos from the phone to the Apple TV. Music from the Apple Music app plays just fine with great audio.

Any ideas?

This is still not fixed in public beta 4. Can anyone with this issue please submit bug to Apple so they fix it? Frustrating dealing with this

I have a similiar issue. No audio when using airplay from MBP 2016 (Mojave) to Apple TV 4K tvOS 14.

Using airplay for video from iPhone 11 Pro Max running Beta 5 to Apple TV 4K tvOS 14 works fine though.

With the official iOS 14 release the problem is not fixed. But I found out something interesting.

AirPlay is working on Airport Gen 2 (2012) devices. But not on Gen 1 device. So I assume that Apple just shut down the support for those old Airport Express devices. What means that they can now be thrown away?

AirPlay from the IOS14 YouTube app to AppleTV crashes, if you try to do much of anything with the rest of the phone. #ios14 #tvOS14 #AppleTV4K #iPhoneX

I just update my iphone 11 to the latest IOS14. But lost audio when connecting to airplay using airport express. After a couple of research, resulted to dead end. So I tried opening the native music app on IOS. After after going thru the regular sign in process I tried playing musin in it. Airplay worked. Then I tried playing using deezer, and it’s working now. Hope this helps everyone. Thank

I am having a similar situation where I am unable to cast the movie onto my Samsung smart TVs after upgrading to ios14. The video plays but the audio doesn’t. So basically it looks like a muted video although it’s not muted.

any one in similar position? My other device on ios13.6 plays fine. Issues with ios14 only

I’ve been having a similar issue, just on a different platform. I have a Sonos speaker, and before updating to iOS 14, I was able to play music directly through the Sonos app or AirPlay music from any source on my phone. However, since updating, I’m only able to play music through the Sonos app. When I try to connect to my speaker via AirPlay, I get the loading wheel indicating a connection trying to be established, yet it never actually connects. Hopefully Apple is aware of this issue and can take care of it in the next software update in the coming weeks.

yes, I have a similar issue. I just updated tvOS to the latest beta version 14.2, now I can't find my airplay speakers in the audio output option except the tv speaker. Before that I can choose any of all my airplay speakers. So I think it should be the tvOS issue. hope apple will be aware of that. btw, my airplay speakers are from ikea x Sonos.

I have the same problem. I just updated to TVos 14.2. Prior to the update I could see and connect to any of my sonos speakers in my home. After the update my Apple TV only provides an option to connect to TV speakers. I also made sure my sonos speakers were added to homekit, but that did not resolve the issue.

I have the same problem!

I just updated both an AppleTV HD and AppleTV 4K, and now both cannot find my AirPlay speakers. On both devices, the only audio choice is "TV Speakers". AirPlay to my Sonos Speakers worked well on the previous release of tvOS done last month. For me, this is a serious problem, and there is no way I can revert to a previous OS version on the 4K.

My iPhone8 and iPadPro at 14.2 have no problem finding the Sonos speakers, so it's just an issue with the AppleTV devices.

I am having the same issue! Upgraded my Apple TV 4K to 14.2 last night and all of a sudden lost connectivity to my Sonos Five and Sonos Move speakers. The only option available is the internal TV speakers. Why would you remove such a critical piece of functionality?
