Cannot install iOS 10

After the Keynote I wanted to install iOS 10 over the Air via the iOS Beta Software Profile.

When I cklick on install an alert pops up and says: "Unable to Install Update" and "An error occurred installing iOS 10 Developer Beta 1.".

It´s an iPhone 6 with the beta of iOS 9.3.3

Update: The same issue pops up when I try to install beta 2

Yes, sorry - I forgot to mention that.

This may sound really basic...but have you tried a different Lightning cable? Error 1 is usually triggered as a hardware level problem and faulty connection would fall into that.

From an Apple support document:

Check for hardware issues

If you see error 53, learn what to do. If you see one of the errors below, you might have a hardware issue:

1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16

20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 56

1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667 1669

Here's what to check:

Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.

Check for issues with third-party security software.

Make sure that your USB cable, computer, and network are reliable. Then try twice more to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

If you still see the error message, you can check for outdated or modified software or contact Apple Support.

Did anyone with installation issues try the provisioning profile listed with the ipsw's on the beta download page? I didn't need to install the XCode 8 beta. I installed the beta provisioning profile, then option-clicked upgrade in iTunes, selected the iOS10 Beta ipsw, and it worked. Perhaps that's what the XCode beta takes care of otherwise. Let me us know if that helps.

I had the same issue, so I restored to a factory version of the 9.3.x and did NOT restory my content from backup. I then installed iOS 10 and once that worked it restored my content from my backup. Other than having to sync all of my Music, seems to be working well.

Thanks for the suggestion. The cable was the original one that came with my iPad Pro. However, I tried a different one and I'm still getting the same error.

Hello,

Yes, I installed that as well as the XCode 8 beta. I then option-clicked as you did and it failed. iPad Pro is unusable and won't upgrade or downgrade.😠

No. It turned out that installing Xcode 8 beta on OS X 10.11 El Capitan didn't solve the installation issue. 😟

I tried again with "Update" button not "Restore iPad..." ( of course, I pressed Option key.)
it still failed.

Previously, I tried with "Restore iPad..."

Probably they didn't test sufficiently for iPad mini 2.

Anyone have a solution for this issue? One of our test iPhone 6 is having the same issue.

Yes XCode8 been installed.

There is no need to install Xcode beta. I downloaded the mobile config to get that onto my old iPhone 5 I just used airdrop. After the install I could see the beta profile, however the update was for IOS 9.x so I let it install that, after which I rebooted the phone again then whent to setting checked for updates and voila. iOS 10 was ready to install.

Same.

Same problem on my iPhone 6 with 9.3.2, tried updating to 9.3.3 beta THEN going to 10, still no luck. Anybody figure anything out?

As I found no working solution I used the Restore Image to install iOS 10. I recommend you to read the iOS beta Software Installation Guide before doing that.

eenter DFU mode, with the device connected to the itunes with the cord. Press the home and power button for ten seconds and then let off the power button while still holding the home button and you will see it pop up in iTunes that you must restore! Hit restore and wait for it to be back to the setup screen.

How do you instal the Xcode 8 beta ?

I was using the profile to install the beta on an iphone6 but my install is stuck @ activation. I'm now installing xcode 8 beta and then trying again... not sure if it makes a difference
