Black Screen

I opened my MacBook (Mid 2011) and opened Chrome. After a few moments the screen went black, but the computer was still on. Force shut it down, and when I turned it back on all I get is the black screen. I can hear the fan spinning, but there is no startup tone. I tried resetting the PRAM and I get the tone then. Any advice??

I have the same problem with my Mac Mini. I think the system is toast... 😠 With luck, someone will post a process to reinstall OS 10.10.

I actually gave my system about an hour when I tried it again, and it booted fine.

If I power off my system over night, I can use it for about eight hours during the day before it dies. Now, instead of black screens, the entire UI freezes except for the mouse which I can move. The only remedy now is to power off the system and wait for another day.

I have te same! Black screen, cursor still showing. iMac 27 late 2013, beta 6.

If I wait it out the screens comes back, and it appears I have been logged out and in again! This time however all my start-ups items say they are opened for the first time.

I noticed it happens mainly when I am in a Open dialog from an Adobe programm...

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014
Installed Mac OS 11.01 Big Sur
Worked without problems for first day.
Second day I shut the screen to move to another location and when I opened up screen was black.
After force quit and restart it was back to black screen.
Ran through all the usual key presses on startup to try and get the screen back with no luck.
Plugged into an external monitor restarted and the external monitor came up no problem. MacBook screen black with a slight visible difference using brightness 🔆 🔅 keys.
Then without touching anything MacBook screen came back no issues looked great. Then 5-10 mins later a visible static across the screen and it is gone again.
Shutdown Start and restart had the same a few times but currently not working other than on external monitor.
Apple please fix this is obviously related to Big Sur.
