App Search API Validation Tool is down

The "Search for Developers" website (https://developer.apple.com/ios/search/) references the App Search API Validation Tool located at https://developer.apple.com/ios/search/. Clicking the link returns an SSL error. The entire subdomain returns this same error (https://search.developer.apple.com).

I reported it through Apple's developer feedback, who told me to file a Radar. I filed a Radar and it came back as "could not reproduce."

Can anyone else confirm that this site won't load? Perhaps Apple doesn't experience the SSL issue from within its own network?

I need to use the validator!

We're aware of the issue and working to get it back up and running. I don't have an ETA.

@KMT: this is no such thing. It's just down. 😉

Checking those links via OS X in order, only the last one fails.

Smells like a typical trust eval fail, and as Apple's own docs state "In most cases the best way to resolve a server trust evalution failure is to fix the server."

I'd wonder if this is the Apple cert fail from back in Feb. and they just haven't redone this server yet...

Borked too, same as #3.

Thanks!

To follow up on this, the issue has been resolved and the site should be accessible again. Sorry for the interruption!

Good to know, and thanks for the 'just down' warning 😉

While the page itself loads, the validator is extremely slow (takes a few minutes to check a website) and sometimes times out completely. When I first used it in the fall it worked almost instantly.

Thanks for the followup, we're working on it.

The tool seems to be down again for me.

Specfically it seems there's no DNS entry for search.developer.apple.com so https://search.developer.apple.com/appsearch-validation-tool/ gives an error in Safari on macOS. (Or more specifically it CNAMEs to rd4.orchard.apple.com and the latter doesn't exist, at least in any public DNS server.)

(Not 100% sure if it's considered best to reuse an old thread or post a new one, apologies if I got the wrong option.)

Indeed.

Or more specifically it

CNAME
s to
rd4.orchard.apple.com

Yep, I’m seeing the same. I’ve reported it internally but I don’t yet have any info about when it’ll be fixed.

Honestly, it’s not a big deal either way but new threads are certainly easier to spot.

It’s back up now (although I must stress that I can’t claim any credit for that).

Thank you Quinn!

Unfortunately although the site itself does now seem to be up, I can't get the validator to work - eg. if I try inputing https://www.apple.com and hit 'Test URL' it says something like wait a few second, then after a fairly long time says "Unable to parse your webpage url at this time.". Other URLs given similar results.

Likewise )-: I have re-escalated this.

And now have a handle to hang it on (r. 34835686).
