Has anyone tried restoring to an ios 9 backup in iTunes. I just want to do this to get a clean restore and re load all my music/apps and hopefully get rid of some of the "other" that has been building up. If it is safe to do this without risking losing my content please let me know.
Restore
My advice would be don't do it. I was running iOS 9 Beta 2 and iCloud backup wasn't working, so I did a backup in iTunes this morning and then did a restore from that backup. A couple of failed attempts and then the backup eventually restored, however - it only restored apps and didn't pull in all of my Messages, Health data and other data.
I've spent all day retrying to get the missing data but to no avail, so it seems like it's lost somehow.
In my case I restored from iCloud as well as from iMac backup and both worked.
Anyway the restoration don't change the iPhone boot, so in case of a failure (perhaps a power loss) the restore could be done again.
The restore from a full, password protected, backup in iMac restored also sensitive data as passwords and fingerprints, in either case password will be re-synched from iCloud, if the were there, and fingerprints have to be re-recorded.
