Could not activate mobile data network

Hi Folks, iPadOS 13 Beta 5 seems to be unable to activate the cellular network. Anyone else experiencing this? I have logged this through feedback. Have gone through the following steps to try and remediate:


1. Removed and re-inserted the SIM

2. Restarted post the Beta 5 update

3. Reset network settings in Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings


Interestingly there is a "3G" indicator displaying even though there is no cellular data connection (and it should be 4G). Also noted some unusual behaviour with personal hotspot likely related to the device being unable to register to a data network.


Wait and see.

Beta 6 still has same issues - blowing away and installing as new device still does not address the issue.

Beta 7 - same issues (now a moot point)


Beta 8 - now has 3G but no 4G (weird);

  • this is on a iPad Pro 3rd Gen 12.9
  • however, on an iPad Pro 1st Gen 9.7 there is 4G


I suspect this is the modem difference in the devices and could also relate to a carrier upgrade that is required.


Hope this helps others if they are experiencing issues and trying to test over Cellular.
