The phone shouldn't lose functionality from simply losing battery health, but you can definitely check it out at the Apple Store near you. If the phone happens to go below 80% battery health, you should get the Apple Store to replace it, as they will do it cost free, as long as the purchase date is within 2 years.

Also wondering this, as I received my Logitech Reach today, which uses a USB-C port and carrying around a laptop or ipad even to connect takes up more space.
