We provide a spam reporting app in the iOS app store.
We have discovered spammers are sending MMS with images, videos, and audio files. Spammers are also hiding URLs in the subject line. When users report spam using the iOS spam reporting extension, none of this information gets passed through to the app selected to receive the spam report.
Also, some spammers are using phone banks with iPhones to send iMessages, which are then unreportable except to Apple.
In other words, SMS are reportable, but MMS content and iMessages are not. Just sharing this in the hopes someone at Apple see this message and might fix these loopholes that spammers are exploiting.

We are using the SMS/Call Reporting Extension in an app so users can report sms and calls as spam. However, since 13.1.1, the extension has effectively become useless. There is a 5 to 10 second delay everytime the extension is called. It makes the UX basically impossible. This is the same issue found here: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/126159 However, in that thread nobody has responded execept to say that they also have the same issue. We actually created an entirely new app and recoded from scratch to see if there was some issue along the way on our end, but the issue arose again once we make the call and have to wait for the extension to respond. I've downloaded and tested other apps currently available in the App Store that use this same extension, and they also all have this same delay.I believe a developer at Apple needs to go in and fix a bug or issue on their end. Any help, from anyone, is greatly appreciated! So if anybody knows who can troubleshoot this, or how to troubleshoot this, I would thank you immensely! 🙏🙏🙏
If any Apple developer is reading this, I would PLEASE ask that you help with this.
Since iOS 13.1.1 the SMS/Call Reporting Extension has been broken. This is a bug on Apple's end that only Apple can fix.
Specifically, the extension takes 5+ seconds to run every time the extension is called. It makes the user experience horrible because users can't tell if the app is working or not. Users complain that it takes too long to report spam and the app freezes. (It doesn't really freeze, it's just that the call reporting extension has a massive delay when being called so it seems like the app freezes.)
There has been an open bug report on this issue with no activity. It is: FB8477259.
Others are complaining about this bug and that it is only Apple that can fix. See: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/134177
The bug perhaps could be fixed in less than an hour, yet it is affecting every single iOS app that uses the call reporting extension, and it is affecting millions of app users.
Is there anybody at Apple who can please help with this?
