Still having the same issue, with iOS 15. Initially, the phone couldn't detect the SIM card, which led me to reset the phone. Upon restore, the SIM card was still not detected, and on top of that I am unable to activate the phone. Tried restoring and updating the device, tried disabling the device's UDID from developer portal, tried gently whispering loving words to my phone, but no luck.
I bought the phone from a refurbished online store and it worked perfectly for several months, I do not know if any components were replaced.
Apple really needs to correct this issue which seems to be plaguing developers.
