I found after I updated to iOS 18 (not beta) that the Apple Podcasts settings had switched itself to “Automatically download latest 5 episodes per show” which if you have a large library could take hours. I never dowload episodes unless I’m saving manually so I turned this off and now all is good… well almost all. My Apple Home Pods still glitch all the time but that is a different story.
