I'm glad I found this topic here since I face the same issue for quite a while now. Even in Xcode 16.1 it does not work properly.
At most it works on every other start but most of the time I have to connect the external CarPlay screen 3-4 times until it responds to mouse clicks.
Suggesting to use the CarPlay Simulator isn't much of a help since you need to connect a iPhone to your computer. Testing different iOS versions is basically impossible on that.

Are there any news on that topic? Android Auto has support for that and first cars are out already providing telemetry.
