I experienced the same limitation. It seems to be Apple's intention that no security devices can be controlled.
Once again an unnecessary limitation.

Apple Developer Forums admins can mark replies as Apple Recommended to indicate an approved solution

Same problem here. Strangely Ventura 13.1 Beta 3 (22A5295i) fixed the problem and now the public version 13.1 (22C65) reverts back to the broken widgets.
